CarrionCrow: All right, random question time - are there people who mind if I refer to them as "they" rather than by gender? I don't mean to sound odd, but someone's gender isn't my business (so I'm not going to ask) and I'm not a big fan of making assumptions.
HypersomniacLive: I do it all the time for the same reason. I'm also in the habit of using "one" instead of "you" when talking about something in general, just to avoid potential confusion or misunderstandings.
So, you're not weird at all, at least not when it comes to this. ;-D
I've just decided I'm not just old, I'm ancient. Back several centuries ago where I come from a persons gender was public knowledge and a thing of pride. Their sexual orientation was sometimes kept under wraps. Now it's perfectly OK to admit your gay, but not whether your a man/guy/fella or woman/girl/lady.
What's that nurse? Yes, I'll have my walker and strained carrots now please. :-|
