Telika: Because we're still waiting for tinyE's comments about a movie featuring giant robots knee-deep in water getting electrocuted.
Don't wait. I lost interest in it 15 minutes in. I missed the boat on giant robots. While I did have the full Voltron set as a kid that was as far as it got. I have a million giant robot sim games here that I never play because I keep buying them thinking something will click but it never does. Some folks love that shit but I'll stick to giant monsters and slime and parasites and disgusting stuff. :D

Neobr10: Why is this thread still alive?
Why should it die?

But half the movie is that.

Yeah, enough to gain half of my interest which is barely enough to keep me awake much less actually paying attention. :P

DRM_free_fan: There are only two possibilities:

1. The big bang theory requires you to believe that once there was nothing - no time, no matter. And to believe that from this "nothing" came forth "everything". How do you create something from nothing?
This theory also contradicts the law of conservation of energy - energy can not be created or destroyed.
avatar
jamotide: There never was any nothing anywhere. You have said why.

avatar
DRM_free_fan: 2. The only other possibility is that there is a Creator - an omniscient omnipotent being who exists outside of time and matter.
avatar
jamotide: Really? You can't think of any other possibilities? wow...do you guys think about this stuff? At least you are more concise than Seyong, who keeps repeating this stuff, but with loads of BS around it.
You have other theories you wish to suggest to explain the beginning of the universe? Other than it being created or spontaneous emergence?
Yeah, how about it always existed. That is why I said that no real nothing ever existed right before in point 1.
I'll be over here reading this thread and hitting myself in the head with a shovel if you need me. :P

jamotide: Yeah, how about it always existed. That is why I said that no real nothing ever existed right before in point 1.
That theory was proposed centuries ago. Aristotle believed that the universe is eternal. However the 'eternal universe' theory can be proven false by maths/philosophy and science.

1. Maths/Philosophy

It is impossible to have an infinite past. Absurdities would result if you were to have an actual infinite number of things. Since an infinite past would involve an actual infinite number of events then the universe must be finite - and therefore have a beginning.

2. Science
The universe is expanding. If you were to go back in time, the universe would decrease until a point where it didn't exist.
This is a thread that didn't need to be necroed.

I'm not so sure. The necro proved to me one thing, there is a hell. :P
