You're both right.

Use silver bullet. Or whatever :)

rtcvb32: Somehow the conclusion that Ubisoft in order to make money has to milk their loyal fanbase and customers harder rather than offering games everyone wants, or offering good PC ports somehow just makes me question them. Similar to Activision milking the Guitar Hero franchise until suddenly they realized they couldn't sell more because their customers weren't made of money.

Well i guess it could be worse. They could be like Florida state who's currently, making collecting rain water, feeding homeless people, and living off the grid illegal...
Yeah I saw a piece of that on DN!. A 90 year old ww2 veteran, who was giving out meals to homeless people for the last 20 years regulary, taken into custody by the police because he broke the law - the 3rd time I think. I was like WTF.

Florida state is just doing so much fucked up stuff the last couple years. They want revenue, won't accept if their citizens aren't giving them their due by paying utilities and power, and those that are having a hard time due to weather, disasters or bad economy won't step up and try to help them; Instead they are hoping by neglecting them that they will up and move somewhere else... But with no resources how they expect this to happen...??

AOS
From the vid: "... putting micro transactions into the game which the new generation of hardware is helping make easier"

This micro-transaction friendly hardware .. are he talking about tablets and phones?
And this is why I only buy my AAA titles used. Screw em. I'll wait a year after release to play a game, I am patient.

It seems Ubisoft wants EA's crown of douchebaggery and it looks like, they will be taking that crown from EA very soon.
$200 games...seriously...WTF. I know there is inflation going on so $60 games don't cut it anymore but $60 to $200?
On top of having to deal with Uplay...

high rated
I like how Tony Key phrases it: "If they love it, give them more" - the word "give" sounds so altruistic.

The fun ends with sentences like this:"People are learning behaviours that we can take advantage of.".

It is quite disillusioning. I grew up with pc games and see the change from making a good game to earn money to figuring out ways to make money and build a game around it.

The last money I spent on a game was for the DVD edition of Maldita Castilla, an indie game that's available as a free download from Spanish developer Locomalito. I spent € 30 to support an indie developer making free games, and I WILL NEVER EVER GIVE MY MONEY TO UBISOFT ANYMORE and I will, uhm, "test for free" some of their non-bullcrap things like Child of Light.

Yeah, Ubisoft has a bright future ahead....
I never quite liked subscription-based games or microtransactions. The problem with the microtransactions are that they are counting on people not realizing how much they have ultimately spent on a game, and how far they've actually gone. Reminds me of a variation of the social psychology phenomenon known as the Foot-in-the-door technique.

If implemented correctly (ala Valve), microtransactions are complete brilliance and can even gain you money. It's just that companies can't afford to invest in a similar platform. They prefer formulaic over innovative.
I like them too, but only if they expand the story and life of the game. Now it's used to milk the cow as much they can in a very short time.
