Good news indeed!
But I'd also like to hear some news about the Aliens RPG.
avatar
Andy_Panthro: Well, so long as they finish Alpha Protocol + New Vegas, then surely they can start on the Alien RPG? Do they have anything else in development?
avatar
Arkose: Not that I recall, but Sega is already eager for them to get to work on Alpha Protocol 2 so it's likely that they will work on that next. Whether they will take on another project on the side as they did with New Vegas is impossible to predict.

Considering New Vegas will almost be like an big expansion since they can reuse FO3's graphics etc., I doubt they would take on a whole new RPG as a side project. I may be wrong, but if they are going to start AP2 fairly quickly after AP1 then I guess they'll be pretty busy.

anjohl: Rememner, L$D2 *is* the platform!
/sarcasm.
avatar
Navagon: Which is to say: making sequels to L4D is the platform for Valves game development revenue. Who needs new single player games when you can charge full price for an multiplayer expansion?

You mean a multiplayer reskin.

Don't forget the new maps! :P
Looking forward to this game but don't really know anything other then its a game set in the avp universe and a fps.

tb87670: My fears are the same, AVP could have been so much more than a 6 hour campaign or laggy multiplayer. I will not pre-order, just wait and see. I sorta hate how AVP displaced Colonial Marines, last year we were told that Feb 2010 Colonial Marines was coming out :sad face:

I think rebellion are working on a dedicated server solution for avp for unranked player matches.

Well not just that, I think quality might not be a concern for the developers as much as it should be. I won't pre-order because if it's a consolized game like AVP or Borderlands, were it would obviously be more fun on a controller, then I'll just wait for a PS3 release which it was announced to have years ago.

I don't think anybody else knows anything about the game other than it's a game set in the AVP universe and a FPS.

michaelleung: Valve are the true masters at not doing much work.
And being able to hype it up as well.

Navagon:

Wow, so much criticism on Valve's development process. I can see how it annoys people. If I was still into videogames as much as I used to be when I was younger, I'd be just as impatient. But for the last couple of years, I have trouble just keeping up with finishing the library of games I've been building up through digital downloads. So I have no problem waiting for Valve's games because it's always worth the extra time and dedication they put into their creations.
As for this Aliens game, I never even heard about it game until now, but I did enjoy the new AvP multiplayer demo. Playing as the Alien wasn't very polished, but I loved the rock paper scissors abilities of each character has to use against each other. Especially being the Predator cloaked and pouncing at your target. Fun stuff.

I'm not so much annoyed as I am taking the piss. I also have enough games to be getting on with. But that doesn't stop me from ridiculing certain companies who drop the ball / throw it through someone's window.
At least valve are still in business unlike a certain other company I could mention...

Yeah... Valve can pretty much do whatever they want. They really don't have anyone to answer to since they don't rely on anyone to give them a paycheck. Same with Blizzard. People can bitch and moan all they want, but obviously, these companies must be doing it right considering their critical and financial success. When I get into the industry, ideally that's how I would prefer to work.
What are you studying/working towards?? =P
