What is this the 3rd time Steam held a free weekend for MW2? This is now looking like a desperate attempt to get everyone to buy the game as much as possible. And $10 off is still not enough to justify me getting it on PC. Anyone else getting a funny feeling that something isn't right?

Probably the free weekend sales before were lower than expected.
But why? Who would not want such |337 gaem? Oh, wait....
I'd say this point towards the previous promos being massive successes on such a scale that they'd be completely bollocks crazy not to repeat it as many times as possible.
Yes, by now I have been accustomed to Mid-week madness and Weekend sales.
But now the mid-week thing seems gone and we get MW2 at the end of the week 3 times.
I would rather see more sales like Freedom Force, Titan Quest, Braid or King's Bounty.
Oh, and the price with 17% off in europe is still a whopping 63$. So no chance, no way.

Just as well I didn't uninstall it, another weekend to play with friends. Also it's been reduced £33 to buy. Get real Steam.

You could probably find it at retail for even cheaper.

Easily. A supermarket was selling it for £24 at one point. Only thing is, as it's an 18 I have to buy it on Steam (I'm 16 and my parents won't let me buy 18s. Loving the debit card :D).
What sucks is the misleading metacritic score of 86. Come on, that means it's likely decent to the buyer who does no further research. But then you scroll down a page and see user scores:
The average user rating for this game is 3.5 (out of 10) based on 4938 User Votes
^^ means even the ass-monkey sheep gamers complain about it a lot. I will pass, on sale this game is still $50. I rather give all the money to humble indie bundle if I had that much to give.

You should know better than to trust user reviews on Metacritic. Someone gave a 6 on Mass Effect. The average rating is bullshit anyway. Everyone will either love it, hate it or probably just give a low score just because they can.

User scores are pretty much always lower on Metacritic.

It is so awful when people buy games I don't like, too. Oh how my stomach churns when people buy racing games...

Given that game metascores on Metacritic use a different system than every other metascore (because of the usually far higher scores that games get), I'd say that reflects more on the critic reviews than it does the user scores. Not that I usually read much into user scores, mind you.
MW2?

MichaelFurlong: MW2?

MechWarrior 2
however, I'm pretty sure everyone is really talking about Call of Duty 6.

COD 6? Hell no!
