I'm glad to be of service!

Just a word of warning about heavy & assault mechs in early games. When playing very small games, then they can become very slow if you just bring assault & high end heavy mechs. Having two Atlases duke it out can take ages.

One of the starter scenarios has the following setup (with pilot rating being (Gunnery/Piloting)):
Catapult (2/3) (CPLT-C1)
Vindicator (3/4) (VND-1R)
Clint (3/4) (CLNT-2-3T)
Hermes II (3/4) (HER-2S)

Trebuchet (2/3) (TBT-5N)
Hunchback (3/4) (HBK-4G)
Cicada (3/4) (CDA-2A)
Enforcer (3/2) (ENF-4R)

So a good mix of not overly durable mechs on both sides. The second parentheses contains the exact model of mech, but they are all basic intro mechs. This is supposed to be played on 2 map sheets with a good amount of clear terrain, some hills and some wood.
I don't know if you'll come back and look at this old thread that you wrote, I found it while looking for games that might be similar to Jagged Alliance myself. I have, however, recently released a table top game that you can play with either miniatures or action figures that is inspired by Jagged Alliance. Check out my website for more information about the game: www.thewayofwar.net

Just briefly glanced through your site. Looks interesting. Just to confirm, this is the one you're selling?

-edit- I downloaded the free manual and had a brief glimpse to it. Rules look solid from what I gather, but the formatting is... well, not that solid. Solely from a random consumer's POV, I'm not sure if I'll pay $20. $10 for the rulebook is fine, from what I can gather of the free copy, but not $20. No disrespect intended to your work at all, just expressing a personal opinion :3. I'm more than happy that someone would actually want to make a Jagged Alliance tabletop game (though I personally also had every intention to try my hand at it someday :P)

Also, have you tried converting to square grid-based movement? If so, how did it work out for you?

By formatting I assume you mean the organization of the manual, I'm still having a bit of trouble getting it all out of my head and onto paper. The rules are definitely all there, but I'm not entirely happy with how its all laid out. As for the square grid-based movement, you would need to have a map with grid squares on it so that you knew that you were staying inside the squares. On table top with figures it's more practical to be able to move in any direction you want.
Yeah I really think the organization should be cleaned up. I hope you can find a way to sort it out. All the best in your endeavour :)

After we talked last I decided to start reworking my manual. I've made a major update to the organization of it. All the game features are the same, just the explanation and how everything was put together has changed. Check it out again on my site, there is a free version of the game still too. I'm planning on releasing a guide/manual which will be a quick play version of the game so that everyone can jump right into it. The manuals are on my site at http://thewayofwar.net/products
I'm happy to report that I've made some rather significant changes to the game and come out with a new manual I like to refer to as the Easy Edition V1. It's the same turn based strategy RPG style of game, that the original was just a whole lot less complicated.

What I did was to change the combat system that I used so that it no longers uses percentages or multiplication, now it simply has just addition and subtraction.

As usual I have a free version of the manual out and of course the full version. Check it all out at my website
