Hi, I'm Fabio's younger, handsomer brother (without the ridiculous long hair). =P I tend to actually downplay it myself. Most of the time it never comes up anyway. I remember some twelve to fifteen years ago it seemed like something so important. Nowadays: Who gives a rats ass! I'm not likely to meet that person on the other side of the net as is. I certainly don't make any extra effort when it comes to that.

Bloodygoodgames: I don't suffer stupid women lightly :) Never have. They give the rest of us a bad name. Actually, I will say she seems like a really nice person and has a very large fan base, but it's the way she "acts dumb" when I don't really think she is that drives me nuts. Typical "girly" behavior. (She does have a nice video up today about her grandfather dying though -- that is touching, I have to admit). There are some amazing commentators on YouTube though. TotalBiscuit is phenomenal. I also love Necroscope86, The Yogscast, In the Little Wood (Martyn of The Yogscast) and Athene Wins are also amazing. I figured out this week I now watch about 4 hours of gaming videos a day on YouTube. It's an OBSESSION :)
I've never quite figured out if Dodger actually has some merits as a gaming commentator or she's just popular because tits. I admit I've watched very little of her videos, but from what I've seen, her regular news show is extremely simplistic (to put it mildly) and her Let's Plays are mediocre at best. Really, she doesn't play any better than average and her commentary isn't particularly funny or insightful (though admittedly, that's a rather subjective claim).

Normally I wouldn't be so conflicted about this sort of thing, but he fact that TotalBiscuit of all people seems to have quite a bit of respect for her as a commentator is really quite baffling.

Based on just the general banter, posting styles, etc. I figure that pretty much everyone is male. I would completely understand if female users didn't want to reveal themselves as such, since they might receive extra attention. Plus, gender isn't supposed to really be a factor on here, so maybe it's best to keep everyone gender neutral.
Yes, more than you think, but way less than 50/50. I'm not surprised that many folks don't indicate their gender one way or another, but it's the internet and gender shouldn't really matter any more than how fresh your breath is while interacting on the forums.

The ego is mostly for show, it gets certain types of women in the sack more easily. Some guys really do overestimate their own attractiveness/intelligence/etc., but most of it is dickwaving vs. other guys or trying to impress whoever floats your boat.
