Wanting to play something simple, yet with a story, I decided to give Laxius Force from this bundle a try.
Has anyone got any experience with this game? My first impression of the writing in it was that it was rather, well, amateurish.
Also, combat just feels like filler content.

I've gotten past the tutorial temple at the start, and now I've begun to play as the actual main character, and the game quickly managed to take a turn for the worse. Combat is incredibly easy, yet at two points thus far the game has warned me about going to certain spots, but as my characters are incredibly overpowered compared to the base enemies, I've of course disobeyed these suggestions. And the enemies in those places have been able to 1hit kill me.

This game has somehow got a 4.1 user score on Gamer's Gate, but thus far I would rate 2.5. Does anyone know if this game gets any better, or do users playing RPG-maker games just have very low standards in general (and thus give the game such a high user review score)?

sadly, no, I didn't like it all either. I found it generally lacking in all areas. 2/5 seems like a proper score for it. I only played it for a short while, about 1 hr or so, and never bothered picking it up again.

Then I'll drop this game, and look somewhere else for my "simple but with a story" fix. Thanks for saving me some time

I still can't understand why this game got such high review scores everywhere though. I really can't see anything special about it.
