Certain events have led me to the conclusion theres a lot of wisdom in the statement "if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all."

I never could make sense of that, if you have a problem with someone why would you keep quiet instead of trying to resolve it?

Sorta like the old saying: "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words cause permanent damage."
Or something like that . . .=)

Lobsang1979: Strange, I find the GOG forums to currently be the most mature of any I've been on recently.
Perhaps some of the threads in which this rudeness has surfaced are dealing with contentious issues, in which case there will always be a certain amount of friction.
I fully support the OPs sentiments though.

Exactly. Conflict is natural, the good news is that nobody on here gets nasty or keeps things going too long. Except Bansama. ;)

So, that's why you posted a link, and didn't say anything, in the first thread I created here and where I, a noob, was asking if someone remembered a game I used to play, to another thread which you bumped by a nice "*sigh*".
Not that you were extremely evil here or anything, but, I just thought let me point that out here, since it did kind of annoy me.
Actually, you HURT me. You hurt me REAL BAD!

Haha.
Dont take it personal, it doesnt mean a thing.
Nothing I say is ever really meant to hurt people......even when I get spitey it's out of caring. Not that I'm some holy perfect being. I'm totally flawed. But I like to think good intentions can go a long way. :P
Regarding the phrase..I suppose its better to say "if you have something malicious to say, dont say anything at all." Big difference between malice and expressing a problem/being angry/whatever. Malice is the worst.

Remember, most noobs are extra sensitive like that when they create their very first thread on an awesome fresh new site they just found out exists... Or did I just share something totally personal?
...And made fellow-noobs look like complete wimps?
I'm on a roll here...

Not compensating for oversensitivity. In other circumstances I can be very accomodating. But after seeing fifty threads with people not knowing what they're doing, I cant be accomodating every time and explain everything and be nice bla bla bla

Yeah, maybe it would take some of the stress away, when the general discussion board could be divided into different categories related to certain topics such as "looking for an unknown game", "website feature wishes", "games not on GOG", "general questions and answers", "nonsense" etc.
But I'm sure that has been requested before in the appropriate thread somewhere hidden on these 173 pages (yeah, I realize there's a search function), in which case I'll just move along.
Edit: And I just discovered a sticky where there are links to some of these threads. Oh great...

I think this community is pretty cool. When i first joined about a year ago under a different user name when i posted on this forum people didn't seem as nice they seemed comparable to any other forum goers. But i was bored and i came back and now i like it.
Be Nice for the Love of GoG!, sureley!?! ¬_¬
Anyways, I agree with Mr Salsa_Shark, this forum's wayyy different to some that I've come across before with the main difference being in that the posters are friendly and mature, for the most part anyways ^^
