A friend of mine (who is a parent etc.) said once that he couldn't care less about video/computer games anymore, even though as a teenager he was a bit of a gamer (not very heavy though). And his reasoning was that he likes to experience real things in life, not virtual. I took it to mean he rather goes for a trip abroad with his family or goes to play soccer or some other sports with friends, than getting deep into the virtual worlds of games and internet.
I feel though he didn't have a very good argument though, because I am still sure he e.g. watches movies, TV, reads books, listens to music and so on, none of which I consider any more "real" than video games.
I would have been more contented if he had simply said video gaming has a childish stigma to it, or that they are too time-consuming and involving (ie. you have to learn to play a game; you don't e.g. have to learn to watch a movie, or listen to music on radio).
I don't personally know many, or any, active gamers in my age bracket. The friends who used to be heavy gamers as teenagers have long since stopped playing anything. But then it could also be many people I know don't really advertise it that they play games at home. I don't either, all my gfs etc. have always seemed very surprised when they've found out.
