jdsgn: Why do you think FFIX 'does not know what it wants to be'? It clearly aims at being a classical Final Fantasy - and it does not even make compromises here, so please explain?
And saying that FFX characters are 'paper thin' is just plain wrong. You get to learn the background and personal motives of every single character without feeling shoved down the throat. And the story stringently connects all patterns of Spira. It contains many interesting and plausible plot twists that keep attached. Are you sure that you really understood the game? Some aspects are rather complicated...
realkman666: 9 devolves into this random bullshit magic Chtulhu nonsense and 10 had very silly characters, even though Yuna is very touching and well-played. I enjoyed both games.
