Holy shit!

the_bard: Holy shit!
And those were the exact two words I said when I learned about this.

SimonG: And I personally think that the original would be awesome on tablets/DS!
Blasph...

You know, now that I think about it, it could work.
Nexus was supposed to be Imperium Galactica 3. I'm still waiting for them to release a proper IG3.

I thought those honors went to Heagemonia.

scampywiak: I was with them up until the 'more platforms' comment. Besides, is this series anywhere near Terran X?
-edit- Just had a look at the KS page. Where does it suggest multi-platform release?

And it's nothing like the X series. There's no trading, it's not freelance, and the controls are more like EVE/Homeworld/Star Wolves. It's a tactical RTwP game that takes place in space.

-edit2- Also, having some reservations now after properly looking at the KS page. It doesn't suggest any of the creators are on-board, only HD Entertainment. Hm. Anyone know how much of a role HD played in the development of Nexus?

-edit3- Oops. A quick research on Mobygames shows that indeed Most Wanted Entertainment is made up of a bunch of ex-Mithis employees.

Set it to watched and I'll check if they state a lack of DRM before pledging at some point in the future.

How could I have missed that? Thanks for pointing that out to me. Might give it a try.
Why have I not played Nexus... musta been raiding in WOW at the time.

Marking for pledge and will decide on a level in bit, thanks!

SimonG: Wait, because they developed games on other platforms they are suddenly bad devs?

I wouldn't support a multi-platform space sim, which is what they imply in the video.
I beat my poor wallet into submission and pledged straight away. (It's now hiding in a drawer, licking its wounds) Apparently, there are many who aren't familiar with the first game despite the recent promo here on GOG.com.

This is promising.

"With our ranks still numbering most of the original Nexus development team, no other developer can match the experience, insight or love we have for this classic game.

Vincent van Diemen joined HD in 1999 and was the original producer on Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, Armin van Buren (In the Mix), Duke Nukem (Manhattan Project), Joint Task Force & Mechanic Master besides dozens of other titles on various other platforms.

Mike Horneman founded HD & Most Wanted Entertainment in 1995/2006 respectively and has been involved in the development of Joint Task Force, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, Duke Nukem (Manhattan Project) amongst many others.

Charles (Chip) Hensen been involved in the development of Pacific Storm, Pacific Storm: Allies, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, World of Tanks, Earth Eternal MMO, Killzone Liberation addon, Warhawk and Home."

I'm in. I really like Nexus. I had a feeling it would be special and it is. I hope this reaches it's goal.

Maybe GOG could get in on this, and offer the original Nexus like the original Carmageddon. :) (Or maybe they could say something like "n% of money earned from Nexus sales will go towards funding Nexus 2"...)
Hmmm $650,000... that's bad, not many people know their name, to spend 650 grand. =/
