Oh yeah, I hate this game with a passion because of it. Awesome game, interesting characters, I get involved in the story, and then BAM, sucky ending that doesn't solve half the storylines.
I heard it's been patched and is now okay, but I can't find the motivation to jump into it again, since that "first contact" ruined the game for me. :(

Modded not patched. Official support didn't do much for the game.

I just woke up and was going to comment but you beat me to the punch. I am not into mods but the ones made for this game turned it from a C- to an A with a small note that the droid planet addon has always run a little slow even on new systems.

It was an unfinished and technical disaster because lucasarts forced obsidian to rush it for Christmas season.
And it's still the best of the 2 (except the ending).

Hell, obsidian even tried to fix it after launch with patches but lucas arts said no...

KOTOR2 should stay away as long as possible. Piss poor game if there ever was one!

It's funny, though, that Obsidian has an excuse for a rushed broken release each and every single time.

Honestly, if I have to vote between Knights of the Old Republic 2 getting here and you staying... sorry, but I'll vote for the game. I don't hate you, I'm not saying you should leave, but I do want that game to be here.

That was the main reason I never bought it, even though I really like the first KOTOR.

Even buggy it's still better than the first.
The fan patch fixes most of the problems and adds back the unfinished content anyway.

Lots of bugs and pacing problems. Why would you want to bother with it?

I know, they're an awful company. Their game was a mess and still is a mess. It is is sad that the community had to try fix it. Though that still didn't help the boring story.
It still has the poor story, mind numbing characters and so on.

Actually, the story and the characters are pretty much what people say is the reason to put up with the bugs. Many feel they're far better than BioWare's offering.

I get that you don't like the game, and that's cool. What I don't get is the idea that the game shouldn't be here because you don't like it. There are plenty of games on GOG that I don't like (and probably more coming) but I don't give a rat's ass if they're sold by GOG. If others like them or want to play them, that's fine. Easy enough for me to ignore them.

Better plot? There is barely a plot! It is about as interesting as the plot for Mass Effect 2. Absolutely nothing happens until the end of the game which generally has the only interesting thing about the game.

Guaranteed the original is not perfect but at least the story actually exists.
