StingingVelvet: KQ7 has massive issues with 64bit systems I believe, and though GOG goes on Vista/32bit right now that might be something they are working on.
As for this release I will ask the same thing I did for Space Quest: any reason to get this over the retail release I already have? I want to support GOG but I can just buy a game I do not own like Phantasmagoria, but if these are improved somehow I will get them.

That's what I do, I bought Phantasmagoria and when Phantasmagoria II, King's Quest Mask of Eternity and Gabriel Knight III come out(if they ever do), I'll buy them, just like you I already have the prior games of them. Any reason to buy GOG's?Well, if you have the 1997 King's Quest Collection, you already have everything just download the fan made installer, if you have the 2006 collection and a 64 bit computer, try the fan made patch if it does not work or you can't get it to work by DOSBox I recommend buying GOG's collection. If any person hasn't played the King's Quest games I highly recommend it, for $9.99, its a good deal.
About the "Is this the cd version" or "talkie" related questions, watch the trailer.
GOG should put A BIG SIGN that says:
"THESE ARE THE TALKIE VERSION, WATCH TRAILER PLEASE"
Trailers are free to watch ;p
These games represent the best years of Sierra and their best talents especially King's Quest VI. It would have been nice if anyone buying this collection would have played the first two games before diving into King's Quest V, I mean its the return of adventure loving witch killing item hoarder collector cap wearing freaking Graham, play King's Quest IV you'll see not even death...

Hmm, Gog needs more Tim Schafer adventure games. Roberta Williams' games were really mediocre, back then and now.

Why not on GoG?

robobrien: Well it does say only available in the EU, i don't think GOG would release a game unless all it's users could purchase it.

The direct2drive.com site for non EU customers also has that game - it isn't restricted to EU only, just that the link goes to the EU store.
On Topic - great games, wasted away MANY hours as a kid with the KQ, PQ, and SQ series. Its like seeing my childhood game collection being re-assembled in small chunks... makes me wish I had my old Tandy 1000HX to sit next to my current computer so it wouldn't feel old :p
KQ6 is one of the big games (together with Civilization 1, Jones in the Fast Lane and Betrayal at Krondor) of my life. Helped me a great deal to get my english past Carmen Sandiego (the DOS version) level. Thank you Gog for bringing me this jewel!

thornton_s: Also where's 1,2,3 & 8 ?

Aren't there some very nice remakes of 1 and 2 around? Shhh though..

Bought!
Thanks GoG, I love these games. I'll be busy for a while now with the games i've bought lately here.
How connected is each game in the series? It has always kind of bugged me to play games out of order. If there is some sort of connecting story line then I will wait until they release 1,2, & 3.

There are some very nice, enhanced (and legitimate) remakes of KQ1&2 available at AGD Interactive, http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html. There is also a remake of KQ3 available, I believe from Infamous Adventures. All three are VGA, point & click, and have voice acting.
The remakes of 1, 2 & 3 are better than anything you can buy officially, IMO!
I still think it's bizarre that GOG is releasing packs of 4, 5 & 6 before 1,2 & 3, but such is life. I won't buy a series part of the way in, I don't know about other people. I wish GOG would come out with a reason, or at least an official confirmation that the Space Quest/King's Quest packs will be properly filled out.
What happens when they get to Police Quest or Larry or Quest for Glory? Will we see weird splits in those packs too? (..or see them at all?)
Would have bought it if I didn't already own that Steam release already. Wonder why it took this long to get to GOG (maybe evil exclusivity deals with Valve?).

I'm guessing that the issue is the two price points are too cheap to cover the whole series and GOG is going for what will be the better selling games first. I agree with you though. I can't imagine a load of 20 year old AGI adventures being very high up the release list compared to most Activision games either. I expect it will a long wait before the whole series in on here.
Some more of my favorites games are added to the catalogue, Thanks GOG!!! This is definitely on my to buy list.

Well...What happens in each game is that [insert new sorcerer or witch] does something that affects Graham's family or has [insert item or person] that someone from Graham's family needs. It is their quest to get that certain something or someone. Most Sierra games(you could say all great Sierra games) are like this, the character in every game gets into a new land with a new nemesis to complete a different quest.
As the games go, you meet members of Graham's family and play as them, each family member has their games, for example King's Quest VII is the only game where you can play as Valanice (Graham's wife). They don't have any IMPORTANT continuity except King's Quest V and King's Quest VI. Those two games, I suggest, you play them in order, just for a few things story wise in KQVI but it will be worth it.
EDIT:
An example of the continuity would be:
In King's Quest II, the magic mirror tells Graham where exactly is that thing he is looking for. A magic mirror? Why is it there? Where did he find it? Those questions don't matter for anything regarding the events in King's Quest II. It is stuff for fans or players playing the games consecutively but it is not needed to understand or enjoy the games on their own.
Its like that kid from the third Matrix movie where he says to Neo:
"You rescued me"
Then Neo said:
"No kid , you rescued yourself"
Then that event is over and is never mentioned again.
Everyone including me said "where the hell did that came from?", then an anime watching friend of yours(the only one going"OH I KNOW WHO HE IS,wow, he is there?") says:
"Have you seen The Animatrix?"

Wishbone: I've never been a fan of the King's Quest series, but they are undeniably true classics that belong on GOG. Excellent addition to the catalog :-)

thornton_s: If you can get past Roberta Williams horrible, overrated writing, not to mention the annoying dead ends and sloppy game design then the games aren't too bad.
You need a lot more patience with these games compared to a Lucasarts adventure.

Oh, I know. I've played some of the Space Quest games, Hero's Quest (before it was renamed Quest For Glory) and the Larry games. I just never got into King's Quest for some reason. Or Police Quest, for that matter.

More like Activision not giving two hoots about GOG until a few weeks ago.
