Empire Rising

Moebius, a contemporary metaphysical adventure from the master storyteller Jane Jensen, the creator of Gabriel Knight and Grey Matter, is available 20% off for pre-order for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com. That's only $23.99 until April 15, when the game is expected to arrive. Pre-order now, and play the 2-chapter GOG.com exclusive demo while you wait for the release!

When a secretive government agency enlists Malachi Rector to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, he is left with nothing but questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him--a dealer of high-end antiques--to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come everytime Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Moebius is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost. This thrilling new adventure game from master storyteller Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, Gray Matter) and Phoenix Online Studios (Cognition, The Silver Lining) introduces Malachi Rector, an expert in antiquities whose photographic memory and eye for detail transform people and clues into interactive puzzles.

If you miss the times when adventure games were played mostly for the great and immersive storytelling, not just for the puzzles, humor, and views, be sure to pre-order Moebius for $23.99 on GOG.com. That's 20% off the full post-release price, and you'll get to set the mood for the game with the full soundtrack (MP3/FLAC), available instantly. You can also jump right in to action with the GOG.com-exclusive demo, covering the first two chapters of the game! The 20% off special pre-order discount offer lasts until April 15, when the game is set for launch.
Hmm, they should have stuck with 2D. The 2D art looks fantastic, but the 3D art looks like crap. Definitely not pre-ordering. Once I see what people say about it after release, I might get it, but probably only during a sale.

After seeing trailer I can't agree with you - it looks very neat. Not mentioning the exclusive demo - that's a rare thing these days to release a demo :-) Good job, GOG!
Hold on, wait a minute... among the bonus content, there is an entry that says Moebius demo (PC). *lifts one eyebrow in a Mr Spockian way*

Is there any additional content in the deme that isn't in the actual game?
That guy looks like ugly, but the game looks like good & fun.

Precisely. It looks too neat. All the characters look like plastic dolls instead of people. All objects are perfectly aligned at right angles, etc. It looks like the work of very inexperienced modelers, or of modelers working with a very strict time frame. Or for that matter, modelers who are stuck in 2004.
I only played the first alpha/demo they released to backers and it was a bit clunky but I bet it was greatly improved. I didn't play any later parts because I don't like to play alpha/beta games and want to avoid spoilers.

I hope I'll be able to get a GOG gift from the kickstarter.
Awesome!

(Disclaimer: Proud backer)
The characters' shoulders look so weird!!! Or am I the only one who thinks this?

I am sure we will. Will check my email after work, maybe they already send out gift-codes.

Honestly, I don't have the slightest idea.

I haven't received any code yet and beta was handled via DRM-free DL, so it is a bit of surprise. I also haven't followed updates recently because I want to stay clear of spoilers. Thus Pinkerton might have already announced how keys will be distributed to backers.

And yes, character's animation wasn't exactly polished at least in Beta and I had some issues with it at the beginning but my worries disappeared when I started playing. It was an experience similar to Cognition where the general impression overshadowed these kind of deficiencies.

for a second I thought it was related to the movie (castrations, ahoy!) Moebius from south korean director Kim Ki-duk
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2942522/

or maybe with the great Jean Giraud?

:P
Don´t want to nitpick, GOG, but when do you plan to release Risen 1&2?
I am really waiting for these two, since I know thy will land here.
Good pedigree, so I'll wishlist it until it comes out and gets some reviews. The scenery art is very nice overall, but the characters do like rather like the kinds you'd find in pre-rendered cutscenes from the games of the 90s.

Ingsoc85: Great! Now you just need to add Gray Matter.

Novotnus: I wonder why it's still not here - I bought it from Polish CD Project shop, DRM-free.
(very good AA adventure, btw.)
Got that from GG, DRM-free. Also curious as to why it's not on GOG.
I still have to play the last to episodes of Cognition (which I liked so far). So wishlisted for now.

All the time they know you and I are coming back to try and pick them up they will just keep holding them back.
GOG are treating us a little like the donkey by holding them out like a carrot on a stick.
