Taleroth: Would it be rude of me to anti-recommend NWN? I just am no fan of that game. It works as a platform for mods, but the game itself is terrible until the second expansion. Absolutely horrible. If you do get it, skip everything but the second expansion.
Well, that's neither rude nor is it exactly anti-recommending NWN, I would immediately subscribe to that. :)
I've been playing NWN for nearly four years now and have never finished the first two campaigns. The first time I played it I hardly finished the Prologue because I already got bored, and on the second try when I got a couple of chapters further, I was annoyed by the weak story-telling and aggravating plot. But there's a lot more sides to NWN than that.
Like I said, the fun is all in the community content, toolset and multiplayer, not the official campaigns (except maybe the second expansion). And you have to look past a few apparent flaws at first to discover the real beauty within. If you're not ready for that because you'd rather stick to the official content than try out the community stuff, or because you want it to be something it isn't (e.g. Baldur's Gate 3), then it definitely isn't the game for you and you will most probably find something better here on GOG. I'm not trying to talk anyone into buying NWN - I can only speak for myself, and personally I can recommend it if the things I wrote about it sound like your cup of tea.
