It's pretty fucking standard customer fucking service practice. When you report a fucking issue, or make a fucking request, it typically won't be handled tout de fucking suite. So the fucking system logs your fucking entry and gives you a fucking reference number called a fucking ticket number. Fucking GOG has pretty fucking reasonable support, so you should be in good fucking hands. They will get back to you fucking soon. If you need to refer to your issue in the fucking future, you can make use of your fucking ticket number.

It's a common and recommended practice for any IT service. It allows to track the request, to make sure nothing is left unreplied , to measure time to response etc. See it as a unique reference number for your claim.

I imagine its similar to when you get a ticket in the deli, your support ticket is numbered so that they can keep track of your issue without merging it into other peoples or some such.
