It's not built-in, merely standalone client with shortcut set to launch the game through it and provide multiplayer infrastructure (because AVPC2k didn't had any of that from AVP Gold).

IronArcturus: Did GOG say whether they would release a version of AvP without the GOG Galaxy beta?
No idea.

Problem is that it generates files in the Program Files folder, without an option to prevent it and regardless of where you installed the game.

The GOG Galaxy beta is built-in, because the user is not given a choice of whether to install it or not. If you install AvP, it will create a "GalaxyClient" folder with data in Program Files.

The game installer goes online, downloads extra crap and installs it to a set location without your permission.

This is far too similiar to DRM for comfort to me, and I really don't appreciate anything forced onto my SSD.

No, by built-in means integration with the game (in provided case intact) while installing in other folder along with the game isn't the same, just the setup. If you don't want, just use game exe for play and download installers manually.

Launcher itself is for patching and multiplayer as game is marketed that way, with complete features (still not exactly client yet and gog downloader is still available).

Me neither, glad I haven't installed yet.
So how do I get an installer without all of that (unfinished?) Galaxy stuff?

As of now, you still can't. I suspect that the GOG staff hasn't uploaded the final build yet, because there isn't even an option to change languages, despite being advertised in the gamecard.

Alas, it was all a dream.

mobutu: actually the key code is valid for claiming until october 2015.

Indeed, I'm still waiting for mine...
Played a few multiplayer matches, some deathmatch and coop. Everything definitely works perfectly fine. Good performance and stability as far as I can tell (although I'm not sure what Galaxy really does in case of this game so far). Sadly I didn't recognize any of the nicknames from the forums, though.

Also, it was fun massacring marines after somebody said that xenomorphs are underpowered. :D
Had no chance against a minigun dude on a perfectly dark map, though. Kept kicking my butt. ;(

Yeah, I would like to know when GOG will fix this so it won't have the GOG Galaxy Beta embedded in the installer.

What happens if you are offline when you install the game? Do you still get the galaxy (thus it's included in the installer) or not? And they have said that the location of Galaxy will be changeable, but it needs to be released first.

Just tried installing the game without connection and the GalaxyClient program is still installed.
