Sometimes, true love just falls from the sky!

Deponia, a gorgeous adventure game that feels like a cartoon based on works of Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams, is now available on GOG.com for only $14.99 until Thursday, September 13 at 10:59 AM GMT.

Rufus would have been a nice guy, really. That is, if he wasn't such a self-important, all-knowing jerk. But hey! Living your whole life in the middle of a junkyard can do that to you. Why does he live in a junkyard, you might ask. Well, it's not like he had much choice. The whole surface of the planet Deponia is covered with a thick layer of trash. That's why our ambitious protagonist always dreamed of getting into one of the upper spheres, where the privileged part of Deponia's population leads a life full of luxurious bliss, probably even unaware of the garbage piles below. But everything is about to change, as a girl named Goal suddenly falls from the cities above with a warning of impending doom.

Deponia is a top-notch point-and-click adventure game from the makers of The Whispered World. It combines the classic adventure game controls with beautiful cartoony graphics and heaps of brilliant humor. The garbage-filled planet Deponia, with all of its gadgets and gizmos, is one of the most captivating, original settings ever to be featured in a video game. With hundreds of challenging puzzles, tons of witty and skillfully enacted dialogs, and amazing cinematic cut-scenes, Deponia is a game that every adventure fan should experience.

Join Rufus and Goal on their voyage through the mystifyingly beautiful garbage-filled landscapes of Deponia, for only $14.99 in the release week!

Rincewind81: Maybe there is an opportunity to get ... a Patch for The Whispered World in the future?
I support that. Right now I shelved the game and I'm waiting for the German patch.

Fred_DM: Deponia has an art style similar to the Penny Arcade comics and games, and i simply cannot stand it.
Yeah. I haven't been a fan of PA's art for over a decade now, and Deponia seems highly inspired by it. Like, really very muchly overly inspired by it.

No sir, I don't like it.

MasodikTiasma: Yeaaaah! Another one! Let's start the A.T. fan club on GOG. Btw, in the american version, his name is Walter Melon. How's his name in Greek?

JMich: The same actually, ΑΧΙΛΛΕΑΣ ΤΑΛΟΝ, not sure how they pronounced the surname. The one with the horribly translated name was "Mortadelo y Filemon", which was translated as "Αντιρίξ και Συμφωνίξ", a (groan worthy) pun of "disagree and agree", trying to ride on Asterix's fame.
After all, Achille Talon takes his name from Greek mythology! It's only justice it's translated in your language.

The Book of Unwritten Tales"...
In the meantime I'm still waiting for the original version of "The Book of Unwritten Tales"...

deshadow52: Can't go wrong with an indie adventure game as far as I am concerned, and it is relatively new too.

The thing that surprised me the most is the size, I mean 3 gigs? that has to be the biggest file size for any adventure game I ever seen.

G-Doc: Well, it's HD, quite long, fully voiced, and it comes with tons of high-resolution cut-scenes. There you have it :-)
Well in that case it seems to have a good reason to be that big, Oh and that trailer pretty much sold me on the game.

Bloodygoodgames: Okay, I don't get that.

I see comments like that all the time and I just don't understand why people don't like cartoons, as that's what it is. It's gorgeous, btw, and exactly the type of game I love to play.

And btw, I'm not being obnoxious :) Just curious as to what's so bad about this type of visual style as I love it???

Fred_DM: you may have missed the fact that there are a lot of different visual styles within the cartoon and comic book genres. just because you like one style of cartoon you don't have to like all of them. some things just appeal to you aesthetically, others just don't.

Deponia has an art style similar to the Penny Arcade comics and games, and i simply cannot stand it.

The Whispered World or Satinav's Chains, on the other hand, i adore.
I love them all, including the brightly colored 'kids cartoon' style, but weirdly I don't really watch TV or movie cartoons that much :)

I'm an artist as well as a writer, so love almost any visual style in games as I know how much work goes into them, and I love to see what other artists create. Living in Asia, though, much of what's popular here is the stereotypical brightly colored 'cartoony' style of artwork, as Thais seem to like that the most. and that's what I'm the most drawn to.. I think that probably comes from the Japanese and Korean comic books we get here, and that are obsessively popular with Thais.

I prefer Deponia to the Whispered World or Edna and Harvey style, though. Just a matter of personal taste I think, like you say.

Kudos, αδερφός! (isn't "kudos" originaly greek?)

Two magnificent releases today. Good job!
Yes, great release. And like Trilarion said: in my language, in my language ;-)

Can you ask Daedalic to update Whispered World also with expanded language support?
A German game that actually gets released with German language included?
...
Okay, where's the fire and brimstone now?
Great release and kudos for getting the original voiceovers from Daedalic (why didn't they offer it with TWW?). Downloading the demo now to see if it will run on my rig, :)
Adventure game or not, I just can't get over how beautiful this game is @_@...
Awesome game. Please continue add Daedalic titles.
That rocket picture was enough to convince me :)
Wow, this looks gorgeous.
