fear not! for there shall always be those who stand up to tyranny!
Some Steam + Facebook crap. Didn't even read it.

Sogi-Ya: Exactly, though you can't really credit that marketing tactic to Nintendo: Sony was the one who thought that little beauty up with the (non) backwards compatible PS3s.
Which is why I emulate all my MULTIPLE TIMES PAID FOR PS1 GAMES. Fuck sony and their dickish remove the fun out of the ps3 crap.....both with the removal of otherOS support and backwards compatibility support.

Funny thing, I hear it would've cost mayb 10 bucks more a console to add in PS1 support.

Umm, PS3 does have proper PS1 support.

I'll bitch that no one is talking about Alice, the other took over a decade to make a sequel game.

RatherDashing: I'm pretty sure you can credit everything to Nintendo. Listen to their fans, and they invented EVERYTHING FIRST.
That's a bit of an exaggeration, but Nintendo has been in business for well over a century now. And in electronics since 1974, given that the oldest competitor in that area is Sony, the same Sony that started out with the PS, IIRC, they're going to be first for most things.

I mean hell, it's been like 15 years since they first tried 3D and well over 20 years since they first tried motion control.

I thought that only applied to early units before they yanked compatibility for later releases. Or was that just the PS2 emulation which got yanked without proper notice so that Sony could start turning a product on their consoles?

Only PS2 emulation was removed.

That's good to know. It does make some sense as I bet the PS emulation on PS3 didn't require any additional chips. Once I've got a new job, I'll have to start looking at PS games to add to my collection.

Err I meant PS2.

You pretty much had it, the fallback is bitching about Steam. 'Nuff said.

Is PS2 emulation actually "there" yet?

EDIT: On the PC, that is.

Yep. The emulators are a bit wonky at times, but most ps2 games can be handled.....given enough processor/etc power that is.

I would be frankly shocked if PS2 emulation was a question of horsepower at all at this point. Like you said, it's more about people getting it "right" than sheer power by now.

Well you still need a good PC, dual core or better at least IMO. Otherwise it won't run fast enough......

Fair enough but if you've built any PC resembling a gaming PC in the last 5 years you have a dual core proc in it.
