It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Pheace: So ingame overlay and browser, achievements, friendslist, chat, public profiles. Still wondering whether they'll actually bother to track time played.
Achievements? .... Oh no....... Please, let there be no badges at least......
avatar
Pheace: Trivial yes, but tracking game time would most likely require the client to be running, which isn't exactly something you can count on when you're a store focused on DRM-free gaming. So any time tracked is likely to be quite inaccurate unless you use the client all the time.
avatar
timppu: To whom is it inaccurate? If the end-user wants to track his playing time, he can choose to use the client at all times when he plays a GOG game. If he doesn't care for the tracker (like I don't), then he could just as well not use it (for single-player games at least).

If you meant it may be an inaccurate tool for GOG or a game publisher to spy on how much users play a certain game... meh.

Steam game time tracker seems quite inaccurate anyway. It claims I have played e.g. TeamFortress Classic for 107 hours, and TeamFortress 2 for 130 hours. Errr, I have played TFC quite a few years longer than TF2... Quite unreliable, if you ask me. Or then it has some strange logic with its tracking.
Hmm.... I guess some people will just use Galaxy as an elaborate successor to the GOG Downloader and maybe a bit of online play if something looks particularly interesting
But then any inaccuracy would be the same for achievements - I guess any achievement triggers you miss when you launch the game outside of galaxy will just be missed...

Heh you'll be spending all your 'fair price' store credit on completing your trading card sets before you know it! {/troll}

I really hope a beta drops soon, though if I have to download all my games again that's going to suck. The way it sounds we may have too.
I don't care if optional "trivial" stuff is added, but I want GOG to get right the important stuff first.

There are a ton of people who can't seem to grasp that a client =!= DRM.

Ah, but not being able to play offline because of a client's presence (me + Witcher Adventure Game last weekend) is just about as useful as DRM...

catpower1980: - 0.2.0..... seems like it's gonna be out in summer 2015 at this rate :)
No one said that the release version has to be 1.0. Take foobar for example.

Bugs happen no different than a game releasing without a client that has a game breaking issue at release... it was fixed. Time to move on.

I hear you, but I get to gripe too. I'm not just made up of giveaways and a bottomless wallet for some dudes in Poland...

Can't help but to +1 you. ;-D
Please let us have a "Do Not Track" option in the Galaxy client. I know we'll have an option to simply not use the client, but if we do choose to use the client, we should have the ability to not have all of our gaming activities tracked by a company. If some users are fine with that, that's okay because that's the benefit of user-selectable options.

budejovice: Galaxy. Ugggh...

The reason I was locked out of Witcher Adventure Game several times this past weekend. On my "drm-free" game.
I don't understand the drm in quotes thing you're doing there. Implying that it is drm to need a working over-the-internet client to play a game that is multiplayer only? That doesn't make much sense.

EDIT: Wait. There's an offline play mode in the Adventure game?

catpower1980: It's always better than the new Steam "broadcasting" feature, that would suck if Gabe gets also the monopoly over streaming market ;)
avatar
TanguyLOZ: When I saw Steam added this feature, I just laughed, oh sure it's likely gonna be a huge success but I'll be playing as always and not spectating ;)
It can actually take the place of Let's Play youtube videos which isn't a bad thing.

Hey I'm not saying not to gripe once or twice.... when it originally happen. But since it's fixed now... well you know the rest. :P

I'm sure most of us have had worse issues. I still have games today unplayable due to bugs. A one or two day wait is better than most, atleast GOG responds to you and fixes it. xD

All I'm saying man.
