The Dark Mod is now its own game and no longer needs Doom 3 to run.
Just download the updater, put it into a folder named "darkmod" (can be anywhere), run the updater and let it install everything, then you're good to go.

I just googled this the other night, so I'm very glad to see this was released. It's about time I played through the latest TDM missions. But I'm not too fond of the updater method. I think I'll wait until Moddb.com gets a full install up.

Does this downloader use p2p or only mirrors? I can't seem to get my dld speed beyond 200 kbps

Same here. I tried this only to see the speed, even the updater at 2MB took a while and I've speedy internet.

I'll wait for the stand-alone installer :-)

Their site seems to be down - now the updater doesn't work because it can't "download mirror information".

Definitely one of my favourite fan works. Glad to see the standalone version is ready too; hopefully that'll give it a far bigger audience. (Edit: Or already has, judging from the download speed. :p)
