Steam's got a beta running for their new, drastically better-looking version of Steam. Everything seems to be redone which is cool because I could easily get used to this!
The beta's open for all, but you might need to wait because it won't magically show up in your Settings menu like they seem to imply.

Hmmm. It does look slinky. Mind you, I've only got that X-Com pack through Steam :P
That...looks voluptuous. Maybe it can satisfy Weclock?
That looks nice compared to what the current version looks like.

Try restarting Steam. It made the update available for me.

I am extremely displeased with everything.

Yup, works now.
Yeah, it really gets annoying, the dark color and the lack of ability to change download servers and no old-style game list (the tools tab still has it, oddly enough).

It's an improvement. But long overdue given how bad it used to look.
In the meantime, be wary of the latest standard client update. After restarting steam, I was greeted by the sight of my profile page blank and my friends list wiped.
And I'm not the only one.
It retained my groups at least. No word yet on a fix, and whether the lost stuff will come back.
Edit: All back now. Hadn't opened steam back up before posting.

Well mine's still in there. In fact I'm chatting to Navagon on my friends list right now.
My games went missing as soon as I installed the beta. I guess its still needs lots of work to be done on it.
I don't feel one way or or the other about it
I don't really mind the way it looks now. Maybe because I'm a minimalist... or maybe because I turn it on to play games and not gawk at the interface.
I don't have any friends on Steam, so can't say anything about it getting wiped.
My only group there is gog.com, and that was still present in the list.
It did take my games a half minute or so to appear though, but it got the installed ones right, so can't complain there.
Im getting the white for everything but the library section. :(
EDIT:
Speaking of Steam, I only have 2 friends... my username is ovoon7 send me some invites :)
