I don`t know how GOG manages to get some games (even new ones) on GOG DRM free, I suppose an agent from GOG has to call and negotiate with the Publishing House and if the House is ok with it they say, `Yes`.

So I wonder, has the GOG people ever thought about negotiating getting games like Empire Total War, Shogun and even Rome2 Total war on GOG, DRM free?

Have they even tried?

I really, really do not like Steam as it kills my sense of freedom to enjoy games, so it would be great if GOG could negotiate a DRM free version of the TW games.

Now I know what SEGA\CA are like, they`re a tight bunch and not all that honest either, but you could at least try... If they say `No` so be it. Their loss.

p.s. By the way, I myself have appealed to CA\SEGA on the forums about this and have been constantly ignored, but maybe they`ll listen to you guys.

If there's a major publisher that hasn't been approached by GOG continually over the past 5 years, I'd be shocked. Prepare for someone to post a link to the wishlist for you...
I'd be very much surprised if GOG hasn't approached Sega even once, both because of the Total War series as well as the emulated Sega Genesis games that are already available DRM-free on DotEmu. But as one could see with the whole LucasArts affair, these things can take a long time.

I'd very much like to see Sega published games on the service, but I'm not holding my breath. But hey, you never know. GOG has certainly managed to surprise me before.
I don't think we even have to ask. It's safe to assume that GOG have asked and Sega stated that their PC output is best off on Steam.

Sure, that is how they felt yesterday, but you never know about tomorrow...

It doesn't hurt to keep asking them to join up with GoG and our community of enthusiastic consumers. ;)

I have little doubt that they regularly check in with all of the major publishers that are not yet signed up.

I'm sure GOG has tried, but the next best thing is to encourage other people to contact Sega and Creative Assembly about this. It's a matter of getting in touch with the right people to make your case. If you've got a link to a thread you've made (and if you make sure people from Sega will actually read that thread), it could go a long way. GOG even said in the community Q&A livestream about getting big Japanese companies here that the community can help by getting in contact with them. So don't give up!
I'm surprised - I know I was able to buy one of them (Medieval II) DRM free on Amazon. If anyone from / involved in TW reads this, I actually would have bought more (I'm looking at you, Shogun II and Rome 2) but they included DRM. So I wouldn't mind seeing you "phase in" more DRM free, older Total War games.

I'm willing to bet they didn't bother with approaching Nintendo.

How many PC games has Nintendo published? Certainly not enough to justify calling them a major publisher...

None. Even their education titles have been published by other companies (Interplay in the case of Mario Teaches Typing).

Why?. Another store means another revenue stream for the publisher.

Again, it's a foregone conclusion that this happens. Sega are on DotEmu - another DRM-free site - so their absence from GOG makes no sense and is worth them trying to rectify.

But for whatever reason GOG are losing support of even the publishers they have already signed. Just take a look at how long ago most publishers actually released anything here. For most it's well over a year ago already.

Thank you very much for your input people. I think we should all keep trying. I will do my bit. I think I will go over CA`s heads and write a letter to SEGA itself. GOG is really a gem and our only chance to play the games as they should be.
I`ve spent more money here on GOG than ever on Steam in just the past year and gwill gladly pay £10 more for the same game DRM free.
