sheepdragon: DOWNLOAD A FUCKING CRACK.
There. It's not so hard to say. And I fucking approve. If you have bought the game, and the DRM makes it so that you can't play it, then I personally think that you are morably obliged to download a crack, in order to compensate for the developers fuck up.

lowyhong: Sure, if I can get the game to install.
I did consider torrenting it, but then, it doesn't make sense if I can't get the game to install from the discs themselves. I'm just thinking screw it, if I still can't solve this shit by tonight, I'm gonna get a refund from my bro's friend and return him the game, then spend it elsewhere. $25 can get me the entire Tex Murphy series on GOG.com. I spent too many hours today trying to get this fucking game to work, and I really can't be arsed anymore already.
Speaking of legal issues, I'd appreciate it if we could keep that out of this thread, since this is going to derail the whole thread. I'm going to give this one last try tonight using Daemon Tools, and Stuff's method, and if it still screws up, the hell with it.

Sorry, didn't read the OP.
There is often a built in, but disabled admin account in Windows XP. but I'm unsure of how to reach it in the normal control panel. The only time I've been able to see it has been with computers connected to the domain at work.
However, I had the same issue myself one time. I installed it on another computer, then copied the files over to the computer I was going to play it on. On the official bethsoft forums, someone copied a reg file, so that I could get all that stuff corrected.
I still have the reg file, but it was for Vista.
Here it is anyway:
