About Twin Peaks - I still need to watch it. I remember that they were showing it on television long time ago here. I think I was about 8 years old then, and I had a strange feeling that it might be a little too much for me to handle at that time ;). But I still loved the opening music. They were showing it again last year but I couldn't watch it then, because of ridiculous time constraints. I hope I will have the chance to see it because the first 3 episodes I have seen were great.

Twin Peaks is so amazing, one of the bests (if not the best) shows to ever be on tv. Even at it's lowest (some parts of season 2) it was still quite good and interesting.
The characters are supposed to be quirky like that, and not entirely realistic... it's just part of it's charm, hehe, if you can live with that, you'll have a great time :D

I remember when it originally aired. Me and a couple friends were hooked on it and never missed an episode. I have the series on DVD. Gonna have to watch it again, as it's been a while. Great show.

I love the series as a whole (even the meandering stretch in the middle when David Lynch wasn't really involved), but it's the ending that really does it for me. The show just goes completely off the deep end in the most glorious way, without any regard for the audience. It's beautiful stuff.

Did you like or try Blue Velvet/Wild at Heart? It helps to be "warmed up" for this sort of TV show/movie. But if you don't like it, you don't like it, and there are plenty of people who don't like it!

No, plenty of people hated it. It's just that none of them have posted in this thread yet ;-) It did actually divide the viewers quite remarkably. Most people either loved it or hated it. Not many thought it was "okay, but nothing special", I think.

Nah, the majority of my friends hated it. I watched it with one of my university buddies and a good female friend. Her brother hated it, as did the rest of my uni pals. We didn't care though. Sent them off to the tavern while we sat back and watched it every week. Then we hooked up with them later. Worked out well for us. Usually by the time we got to the tavern, they were juiced up enough to buy us a tray of daft when we got there. Good times.

Agreed. The first season is pure gold and needs to be seen by every David Lynch fan. The second season starts out good, but soon degrades in quality due to numerous secondary plotlines that don't go anywhere. Especially after Laura Palmer's killer is revealed, the show seems directionless and gets a little hard to follow. It doesn't really pick up again towards the end, but it's worth sticking with for the awesome ending.
It's one of my favorite tv shows, but I can see why some people would dislike it.

Twin Peaks is one of my favorite shows ever... and the movie Fire Walk With Me is crucial to getting the "most complete" story; as I think a story like Twin Peaks can never really be a cut-and-dry narrative. It was created after the series ended, but chronologically, it's a prologue to the series.
But, watching something like Twin Peaks for the purpose of "getting it" or trying to make sense of the story is missing the point, imo. Like most of Lynch's material, the emphasis is on the imagery and experiencing what's being presented to you as it comes.
It's really bizarre to me that something as unconventional as Twin Peaks ever occupied a prime time spot on a network channel. Not to mention -- got renewed for a second season.
But I highly encourage anyone who hasn't seen it or those on the fence about it to visit (or revisit) Twin Peaks. It's slow-moving at first, but if you stick with it for a few episodes and endure some occasional cringe-worthy acting and melodrama, there's a very unique experience to be had. Agent Dale Cooper is one of the best characters ever!
As for Deadly Premonition... Cooper is not the nutcase that York is, but the game is way more amusing and endearing than any (new) $20 game should be.

I always hoped they'd make a spinoff series starring Cooper. An X-Files type show with less conspiracy theories and more humor. And just call the show "Coop". I'd definitely watch that. But only if Kyle MacLachlan played the part, naturally.

Coop sounds like two dudes in a frat house playing MW2 together.

Season 2: ... kinda loved it.
Season 2 Ending: ... WHAT ... THE .. FUCK? I mean, abrupt endings are fine but that one redefines "cliffhanger".
