I currently have an aging MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk, and as shiny new games like The Witcher 3 draw near, I'm thinking it might be time to upgrade.

I'm pretty set on getting an NVidia EVGA card, and currently the 660 is on sale for $169.99(139.99 with MIR).

My question is, do you think this will give me a noticeable upgrade for that price, or should I hold off and wait for a 670 or maybe something from the 700 series to go on sale?

Edit: I probably should have marked this as a question...

I have a 560 Ti and I'd personally wait for something a couple steps better instead of going to the 600 series.
I don't think it's particularily worth spending the money. Personally, I'll wait for another year or so for things like GTX 970 to drop in price for an actually significant upgrade - and new generation of ATI cards is on the way, which should knock the price down, hopefully. But yeah, you'd have to wait.
I would say either wait another Nvidia generation or spend an extra 5 bucks on an R9 280: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202099

feh i have a geforce 8800 either card would be aces for me ;p
Thanks for the quick answers guys, I think I'll hold off then. My card is already over 3 years old and has had overheating issues out the box, so I don't think it will live to see the the 900 series become affordable to me, but maybe the 760 or 770.

And despite the tempting price, I abhor ATI cards since issues I had with their drivers and cards about 10 years ago. The Sapphire is probably fine now, but I hold on to grudges. :p

Unfortunately my budget is around $250, but I might have more after the holidays. I usually don't buy off brands like some of the ones you listed, but MSI is good, too. My current card can run most things on max, too(aside from the overheating), so I think I'll just wait a little longer. Thanks for the advice!
You can get an R9 270x for that price.

Oh right, that reminds me something I forgot to mention with the 900 series - the reason why I would not go for any other card than those is that NVidia has managed to significantly lower overheating and power issues the older series had - well, I know that to be true for 970 at any rate. You can take a look, after all.

Now that's cool. I think my girlfriend might kill me if I spent more than $300 on a graphics card, but I'll keep an eye on the 970 from now on. That looks like exactly what I need.

She might be influenced with future proofing, but her idea of gaming is Sims 3 and hidden object "games." Graphics are not her priority.

If you get a 980 you won't need her ;)
