I think the only Valve's games that includes trophies (Same as achievements in X360/Steam) are Portal 2 and CS Global Offensive. Which by the way, i have never seen those games as low priced it can be in Steam Store hahahaha.

The Orange Box was released into PS3, even was distributed later by EA, and no, neither HL2 nor Portal 1 receives trophies.

That apart, Left4Dead never reach the Sony console, and i believe it will never reach there :(

Well to be fair, Sony took the Atari route... They made hardware that was difficult to program and hoped no one could duplicate/challenge it and everyone would flock to it (based on the name) and it would reign supreme. And supposedly it would be so hard to program that devs wouldn't have the energy to make ports to other systems.

Except with Atari they had no challengers... And there were a total of 10 programmers, who threatened to leave unless they were paid better wages and royalties for games sold...

Honestly... For the CELL processor to be successful, it really needed to be released as a separate hardware that anyone could plug in and use like as a PCI slot so they could experiment with it and figure out what works and didn't, then give the world 3 years to come to terms with it. Then the PS3 would have probably rocked... But too late for that.

Actually the CELL processor could probably still be salvaged and used in engineering and the scientific community, but i don't see that happening...

Drunken PC master race mode activated!

1. Why the fuck would you play HL2 or Portal on a PS3?

2. Who gives a flying fuck about trophies?!?

Actually, as far as I know, it already did rock the scientific community. At least I recall seeing a couple of articles about universities building super-parallel-processing computers by hooking PS3s together.

Oh, straight answer! Didn't know about that. Gabe is a dick anyway.

Hahahaha, will answer the same way:
1. Cause the PS3 controller is much more comfortable than keyboard + mouse, aaand I can play it more relaxed way than playing even on my laptop.
2. Me? If I didn't care about it I would not turn it out.

Indeed, several militaries over the world have bought a whole set of PS3, connect each other and set a super machine. It has been happenning since 09's.
Also, some universities release an APP to make CELL create some algorithms all over investigations they were developing. I did download my self back in 2011

Was that before they removed the GNU/Linux OS option? Or did they hack the PS3's so they could run unsigned software?

Seriously, the PS3 news pumped me up knowing i could program on it and use it as a computer.. when they took that away and took away the PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility i was disheartened. Sony could so easily branch to making some PC hardware, like exporting the EmotionEngine and CELL processors to PCI slots and selling off those. Emulation of older titles would be far easier and we could use the raw hardware.

Alas Sony does have a stick up their butt when it comes to DRM on their hardware and not wanting it to be used more effectively... The moment a crack is available in their PSP's and other systems, they gotta patch it away.

every ps3 still plays ps 1 games its just ps2 compatability that was taken away

the first batch of 2006 ps3'sd had actual real ps2 hardware

when the machine was released in europe the hardware was removed in favor of a half assed emulation scheme
before getting remove alltogether in october 2007

the other os feature was removed in 2010

Oh really? That's pretty ironic considering the fact that Sony was the company that took always-online DRM out for the next-gen consoles. Weren't it for Sony, we would have always-online DRM in both the PS4 and the Xbox One, and PC games would probably follow the same route (at least AAA games, i'm obviously not talking about indies here).

Like every hardware company ever? It's not like Apple, for example, doesn't do the same thing, you know.

Actually, many titles from PS1 and PS2 can be bought trough PS Store like PS Classics. PS2 disc read support is the one that was taken apart from the console.

And the military service starts early in 2009. When COD Ghost went out there was a promo were some USA were training with, but it actually happen, wasn't just a brand promotion. (Even i found COD like a lame game)

All companies do that. The one who don't seems to be Microsoft. In my country piracy is almost a normal thing. And by normal i mean you can buy pirated music/software/games in street. Even cops buy it. The only consoles were you can't find pirated games are PS3 and Nintendo latests ones.

That makes me have hard time since almost all my friends have Xbox because can obtain games by very cheap prices, or even "free" downloading it from internet.

Is true that PS3 DRM is hard, but at least is not that much pain like Steam or the ones that Ubisoft have tried. Do anyone remember Splinter Cell 1 DRM? A totally disaster.

i know that
its just another attempt to shill ps2 games for a few extra bucks
however the ps2 line up is piss poor and would be better off with actual disc support for ps2 games

Sony actually was testing the waters based on the reactions of how M$ was getting their feedback. Yeah i know they planned to do exactly as M$ was (or the other way around), but made some good choices like not shoving it in everyone's faces and promising us we'd get a brick if we didn't have internet; Plus based on the crowd reaction, i bet the PS4/XBone wouldn't have sold anywhere near as well and if they stuck with it, the Wii-U would have become the king by default...

Which would be really really sad...

Or the 8th gen would have just died and 7th gen would be the only ones getting games.

As for Apple... All their crap is overpriced and DRM-ridden, i don't own a single apple product. My GF has an old iPod, which naturally isn't charged and can barely be used, so it's as good as a small brick... I don't know, something about apple in general rubs me the wrong way; But with no personal investment it doesn't bother me, unlike having a PS2 & PS3.

Indeed would be better, but isn't much money. 15$ for GTA San Andreas? I think is a good price. 5$ for each Resident Evil? Nice.

I think Sony prices aren't too high. On the other side... Ubisoft/EA DLC cost 10~15$, being only 100kb and just unlock 2 clothes/cars/weapons ... Clearly the thieves are not in Sony's headquarters.

The thing is Valve turned back on their word and ported Portal 2 to PS3 anyway and ever since Valve has released other Valve games to the PS3 and even added Steam intergration with the PS3.

IMO looking at the whole thing now its just another case of devs bitching about new systems they are not used to :P

Meh... Pure PC users hate consoles, anyway...

I used to be a PC elitist and then I played FO3 on PS3 and I shed that hate. I love both platforms equally cause they both give me what I love: fun video games. Why can't we all just get along?? *throws flowers around* Besides, being a PC snob and vice versa will make you miss out on some really awesome games. *cough cough* flow, journey *cough cough*
