Curious what game keeps folks coming back to play over and over and why it appeals to you. Could be old, new, medium well... Just the game you either never take off your HD or is the first to be installed on a new build or even the one you install again every year or so to play through. Doesnt have to be the best game you every played, just the one thats the most fun and engaging for you. One and only rule... it should be limited to whats available on GOG.

I would have to say mine is Zeus. It was a toss up between that and Lords of the Realm II, but I think Zeus takes it. That game is just endlessly amusing for me. I love city builders, its a great theme for me as I enjoy Greek mythology and it has just the right amount of combat to keep it interesting. To be even more exact, I mean the pure Zeus, not the Poseidon expansion. For whatever reason that never rang the bell for me, I enjoy it for sure, but the original is what keeps me coming back again and again.

Jack Keane 2 is better.
I would have to say Nox. It's a really hard question, I replay a lot of games available on GOG, most of which are point-and-click adventures, a genre not particularly known for its replayability (Primordia and Sanitarium, I'm looking at you!). Staying true to my first impulse, though, it's definitely Nox. I've been playing it since its release way back in the day and I never seem to grow tired of it.
Mine would be Gothic 2 Gold. I've had lots of fun with it.
Too many! :D

In my case they are usually games with high replayability, like those of the 4X genre. Or rogue-likes like FTL, hard as nails, but each run you learn something useful for the next one, so you keep playing. Addictive as hell. ;)
Baldur's Gate Series. If they weren't so long I'd play it a lot more, but if it wasn't so long it probably wouldn't be such a great game.
Until I get around to finishing something that might dethrone it: Master of Magic. Summoning nigh-invincible armies to conquer stuff is just too much fun.
Okay seriously, TR 2 or Commandos 1 or 2.

Master of Orion 2 is one of my favourite* games so I've always been interested in Master of Magic. Glad to hear it's great.

* I almost said Moo2 was "bar none" favourite but the truth is I don't currently have a game I prefer above all others.
Gothic. The original.

I never beat Gothic 2 nor played Gothic 3. Whenever I'm telling myself that now I'm finally gonna beat the whole series I start over with Gothic 1 and then can't get any further. Gothic 1 is so original and amazing that I'm simply not getting bored from that one. And Gothic 2 is missing a lot of the style and atmosphere I adore so much about the first game, so instead of beating that one I actually rather go for another playthrough of the original game. I've already beaten G1 three times (in three different language versions, btw) and there's definitely gonna be a fourth time before I make my next attempt to actually go through the whole series.

I love the way the plot develops, I love the character progression, I love the exploration and most importantly I love the gritty, dark and nihilistic but kinda believable medieval atmosphere. The first game was this far too ambitious project by a bunch of guys who simply wanted to make a badass game and that shows in every single detail and I think the series was just bound to lose a lot of that with the increased professionalism in the later titles. In the first game like every single NPC is this total jerk or a kinda believable average guy stuck in a medieval valley. Ironically that makes each and every one of them more interesting than 99% of NPCs in any other RPG I've played. And it makes the few good guys so much more valuable. I think that's mainly what makes playing Gothic such a cool and unique experience.

Aaaaand Gothic wishlisted. :-P Heck, my GOG wishlist is growing by the second, today!
Has to be Icewind Dale 1 for me. I must have gone through that game 3 dozen times by now, and keep going back to it when I'm between games and not sure what I want to play.

Be prepared for awkward controls, a clunky interface and getting your butt kicked every single time during the first couple of hours. It's totally worth it, though.
I don't think Patrician 3 left my HD in the last ten years. So immensely time consuming that I haven't seen a serious game through for a few years, but I keep going in little bits when I can. One day I'll reach a million population, one day...

Tied for the next places would be Caesar3/Pharaoh, can't even decide between those two. Zeus is kinda nice as well but after an hour I always decide I'd rather play one of the others instead. (Is Zeus without Pos even available here or did you break your own rule? :-P)
