Seems like it's relatively rare for a TV series to have a good finale, or even to have a finale at all. Babylon 5's was great though (I'm re-watching B5 these days).

Trouble is so many shows these days are either cut short (Angel, Firefly) or they run too long (Stargate SG-1, 24, LOST)
DS9.
Battlestar Galactica. IMO best series ending ever. This series was not too long and long enough to have a good story arc and to dive deep into the characters. It ended exactly when, where, and how the creators intended, which is always the best way to go.
Even though it was cut short, like Delixe noted, the Angel finale was pretty awesomely epic. A fantastic finale to a fantastic show with an even more fantastic last season, I thought the way they changed the whole dynamic of the show for the 5th season was brilliant.

Gurren Laggann is grossly overrated, and them continuously yelling "who the hell do you think I am" or "you bastard" annoyed me to no end.

yadda yadda.
loved every bit of it.
overreated is NGE but TTGL is epically awesome.
The "All Good Things..." episode of Star Trek TNG, hands down.
That Angel ending, as cool as it was, wasn't actually the ending of the story. Angel, just like Buffy, continued as a comic book series right where the TV series ended. Angel actually ends up catching and taming that dragon. He named it "Cordelia".

But for those of us that haven't read the comics, it was satisfying as an ending. Not that make people read comics. COMICS ARE FOR NERDS.
