End of 24 season 1 was awesome.
Endings of Buffy seasons 2,3 and 5(?)
Ending of Babylon 5 (though it got messed up a bit with the last 2 series being in limbo - could have been REALLY epic).
End of Angel series 2.
Not the end, but the penultimate episode of Terminator - Sarah Conor Chronicles was awesome. The final episode - not so much. Shame it got cancelled though.
Probably loads more I forgot, but it's more often that series I like get cancelled too soon - so i never get a decent ending.
I guess, all time, the Fugitive series ending must still rank up near number one.
It would have to be Star Trek: The Next Generation.
I don't watch a whole lot of TV, but that ending made me cheerful and extremely sad at the same time.
Oh yeah and Dinosaurs because the main character started the Ice Age which killed all the dinosaurs including himself and his family. It was bittersweet.

Delixe: I forgot Blackadder Yes it continued but this was a magnificent end.

Oh yes. How could I forget.
I like how deadwood ended, it wasn't really a finale so to speak but it was nice they stopped the show while it was still awesome.
Red Dwarf as well (those extras they somewhat recently done don't count).
I think the only series finale Ive ever watched was battlestar galactica and that was because i bought it. It was alright but it could have been better. The galactica should have gone down fighting.

captfitz: I recently watched this and loved it, it seems our tastes are similar.
What are some other animes that a Cowboy Bebop fan would enjoy? I haven't seen anything else.

Sadly I can't recommend anything else, so I can't contribute to the other thread. Bebop and Evangelion are the only two anime series I've watched.
I've stopped watching most TV series, too, because they have a tendency to be continued ad infinitum until they're cancelled, so nothing meaningful ever happens at the end of a season. Only notable exception that I can remember is Dexter.

The final for Ashes to Ashes was brilliant. Even though I had worked out what was going to happen by the end of the second series.
None of them. I hate it when shows end.
But okay, if you must, The Sopranos. Only because it FINALLY ENDED.
The one I remember the most is the X-Files finale, which was a movie-length two-part episode.
Not because it was that good, actually it was pretty bad, but because my absolute favourite show of the 90s came to an end, and that made me pissed off.

Agreed, and not only shows either (not that I watch many, I don't even have a TV), but books and games as well.
Six Feet Under, such a tear jerker an d fitting end to the series.
I loved the ending of Newhart. It might not pack the same punch out of context, but it was wonderfully subversive after the reaction to the same device on Dallas and the ending of St. Elsewhere, and The Bob Newhart Show was still in heavy syndication then.
Animaniacs had a great ending. The entire point of the final episode was that Warner Brothers didn't understand the show.
Actually, the ending of Mystery Science Theater 3000 was pretty good, with Mike and bots using their freedom to do what they've been forced to do for years.
I agree that the ending of Babylon 5 was excellent. Franke's music is pitch-perfect, the credits showing the characters as they began and as where they had come is effective, and I can feel my throat tighten up whenever I see Delenn watching the sunrise. For a show dealing with intrigue and destiny, it was always about the people, and the finale was true to that.
