I have been trying for a while to open the save that you send me 227,but for some reason my the witcher 2 does not recongnize it, I am using the steam edition of the witcher 2, you have any clue of what I can do to make it work?

Just a guess, but it might be that the steam version requires that the .bmp preview file is present.

Here it is: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P8DGQ9SU

Put that in the save directory and see if that works.

EDIT: Another random thought occurred to me. Maybe the quicksaves in the steam version are different somehow? I made a manual save and uploaded it zipped together with the .bmp file, just to cover all the bases. You can get that one here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GREOAE5V

You're sure you're putting the files in the savegame directory?

Because if you are, then there's some kind of incompatibility and you're going to need to get someone with the steam version to get past the Kayran. Hopefully that's not the case.
ye,unfortunably I am :\ I even checked if it was because vista was blocking, still din't work,I am putting it on C:\Users\"usernamehere"\Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves.
Thanks for the help though mate :3

After beating the Kayran I try to examine the body but nothing happens, what am I supposed to get from the body?

If you go to the right of where Sile walks to, there are two loot points. You have to have a basic idea of where they are, though. You'll be between two tentacles... one is between the two, and the other is to the left a little way down that tentacle.

You should get a bunch of stuff from both points.

Are you refering to the Items that start the Mystic River quest?

No no no, those things are on the wrecked boat. You should get Kayran skin, a mutagen or two, and some other crafting stuff from the Kayran loot points.
What is the best way to use Yerden to catch the tentacles? I cast it on the ground and it seems it's hit or miss on making the arms stick. I ended up doing the fight on easy but would really like to know a trick or two so I can try it on normal/hard someday.

Goodmongo: What is the best way to use Yerden to catch the tentacles?
Best way I've found is to stand in one place until one of the trappable tentacles (make sure that it has that orange growth on it, first) goes up pre-attack, then to dodge out of the way. Once it's raising that tentacle back up, get under it and use Yrden.

If you're too close to another tentacle--and this usually happens when you're trapping the ones near the middle--one of the non-trappable ones may land on that spot. They seem to alternate, though, and Yrden won't be used up when that happens. Just dodge out of the way, get back on top of the Yrden, and repeat until you've trapped the right one.
Like many others, I just cannot get past the Kayran - and have followed all advice and tips here. I get to the QTE, and have spent several hours every night over the past 4 days:

I hate to admit it, but I've even loaded up a Trainer to up the stats thinking that would help. But it is the QTE - sometimes I get the bar to the end with a bit of time to spare - makes no differenc to the times when it gets half way and then runs back.

I've tried changing the mouse speed - and changing my 'click rate' on the LMB, but just cannot get it. I think now I have also done my clicking finger a serious injury... :-(

I have also gone to the Easy setting, and disabled 'Difficult QTE. Neither of which seemed to make the slightest difference.

I'm on V1.2. And I'm about to give up completely and go for another game - this part of Witcher 2 has now become monotonous and boring unfortunately.

Is it possible it could be something to do with the Graphics card? This is a W7 i5 machine with 6GB memory, an ATI Radeon 5450 Graphics with 1GB memory, and a 23 inch monitor: the game played jerkily until I disabled practically everything, and now it is not so jerky, but not smooth, That too may be a contributing factor to the difficulty.

Any suggestions I can try before I finally bin this game would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

Check your FPS if it is really low (below 20 or 15) then yeah it could be your GPU.

You should put the game in the bin. Not every game holds your hand and if you already tried it on EASY with QTE Difficulty turned off, its just simply not for you. For everyone else, don't misunderstand me that this game is not difficult on Normal one bit, I think its just Mikesh is terrible. I think your video card is having a big effect on you also. Go pick up an ATI 4890 for well under $100. I have the game on HIGH settings with some stuff turned off (shadow low, motion blur off) with my ATI 4890 / i7 920 CPU (OC to 3.1ghz) and the game runs silky smooth. Sorry to sound like a jerk, but just calling it out how I see it.
Yep, you could well be right. My son who is a dab hand at these games tried last night after I'd posted - and his conclusion was the machine wasn't responding properly to the lmb clicks.

So binned it will be, or rather, passed over to him to play on his machine.

I don't expect my hand to be held though. I worked my way through Fallout3, Oblivion and so on without this kind of 'qte' problem occuring even once. And that was on lesser machines. But a new graphic card for this one is definitely an option
