Same problem here, macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 on a M1 MacBook Pro. I've been having this problem for ages, even with older macOS versions. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but to no avail.
I'm having the same problem since the last couple of MacOS updates (currently 14.2.1 and GOG Galaxy 2.0.73). Closing the GOG Galaxy client results in an empty window remaining that can only be Force Quit. This also affects the ability of the client to auto-update itself (it fails, because it cannot close the previous version).
Glad to see others have this also.

Launcher no is completely useless and I need to install the games manually.

(M2), current update.
Same thing here. 2019 iMac with an i9, Sonoma 14.2.1. When quitting the app, the window disappears, but the app is still shown running in the dock. Need to force quit it each time.

Even occurs on a fresh install of the OS and Galaxy.

Tyche update from June. Seems to be something that should be pretty easy to reproduce and debug for a Qt/Chromium app.

Looking at the Console app when quitting Galaxy shows a few errors from GOG Galaxy Helper and com.gog.galaxy.ClientService.
Same issue on my MacBook Air M2 with Sonoma 14.2.1 - seems this issue has no real priority.
I also noticed that, if the app is closed via "Force Quit..." other apps in the list are using the Gog Icon too until I quit GoG Galaxy.
Weird behavior overall.
Same here, MBA M2 14.2.1

Additionally, Wishlist management doesn't work.
The list is greyed and I can't add or remove stuff.

This sucks. Uninstalling Galaxy right now, will reinstall if fixed.

Chloeamo: Same here. What's worse is that now it won't even launch properly. There's just a pop-up window saying connection to the communicating service is lost and it has to shut itself down. I just don't get it. Even if there is no internet connection, why the client for a DRM-free platform cannot be used offline?
Same here too (using Sonoma on a M2), except that I solved the launching problem by unabling "GOG Galaxy" in General -> Login Items in System Preferences and keeping "GOG Sp. z. o. o." enabled.
Unfortunately, GOG is hiding deep in the System.
I tried to uninstall it but this way is untouchable:
System/Library/Templates/Data/System/Library/AssetsV2/PreinstalledAssetsV2/RequiredByOs/com_apple_MobileAsset_ GamePolicy_DB1/19759571bf67ae85563ad52aae8b692f131bc86c.asset/AssetData/GamePolicy-Launchers.bundle/Personalit ies/GOG_Galaxy
I tried as a superuser, it was impossible.

This worked for me. Opens now. Still have to fore quit to shut down. It's in login items: allow in the background

Same problem here (with it closing. You must force quit).

Another related issue that I raised with them is that because GoG Galaxy is an Intel app any Games started by it become intel as well. For example, if I run Rogue Trader 40k from /Applications then it runs natively. Otherwise I get the intel version.

Slight performance variants but annoying. Something to keep in mind for anything that might tax performance

I was told they weren't working on it at the moment
Yup, same here. Doesn't shutdown properly. Even the update failed, had to download the installer manually and update with the app closed.

Additionally on startup the sync with Epic runs forever.
Yup, its same here. MacBook Pro M1. Totally useless, how can they not check this up before a release? Fire QA!
Just upgraded to new mac studio M1 Max running Sonoma 14.3. This also pertains to Sonoma 14.2 but GOG was actually doing something bad during start up. On startup, the progress bar would just hang at the halfway point for a long time. Finally it would progress and the computer would show the main screen but sometimes even then everything was frozen for a few minutes. A few times during start up the computer would repeatedly startup and flash a pink screen. Also got some strange startup errors. I recall the word "panic" in the error message. Uninstalling GOG rectified it.

I'm at the point now where I won't buy anything from GOG until this is resolved.
Me too. Does not quit and hangs forever. This sucks. I hope this gets fixed, soon.
I have to go into Utilities > Activity Monitor > Force Quit. Super annoying.
