Lobuno: Working GOG Galaxy-Steam integration available now, follow the instructions int the Github:

https://github.com/ABaumher/galaxy-integration-steam/releases/tag/v1.0.5-beta
it's weird, it connects, and it says it's updating, but there are no percentages of it advancing and when it closes the sign that says it's updating I have the same amount of listed games and installed, as if it did not update at all.
@gedece: it's working fine here. Try this:

- SHUTDOWN completely your Galaxy client.
- Delete everything in the steam_ca27391f-2675-49b1-92c0-896d43afa4f8 folder.
- Paste/extract the contents of the zip into that folder.
- RESTART Galaxy and login Steam again.

If not working may be you can find the reason in the log file here: %programdata%\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs

Thanks, I had to restart Steam also and now it works. Seems like Steam had been running for so long it kind of forgot how to let connections in.

I have better solution, much easier, working always:
1) uninstall GoG Galaxy
2) install Steam.
Thats all, folks.

I don't understand why Steam hasn't been working for several months now when GOG Galaxy main "selling point" is one launcher for all launchers + Steam is the biggest launcher/where most people have most games. I don't understand how letting the Steam extension dead for months is possible.

I'm not the type of person to complain and act like I'm entitled to anything but I really don't get why the situation is that way.
Also I think it's safe to say that a lot of people would prefer downloading things from GOG Galaxy rather than downloading some files from a random guy on Github. Not even talking about having to manually do stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion (for other people) though!
Steam and other plugins have always been community maintained, exactly like this one. You just have never noticed it because GOG Galaxy was able to pull the code from the repositories by itself. To avoid the manual install, some more work is needed to have Galaxy switch from the old, abandoned repos to the new ones.

That said, my question is why such an important plugin like Steam is left to the Community instead of being taken care by GOG directly, with the risk of it being abandoned like it happened in this case. My thanks go to ABaumher and some other "random guy on Github" for picking this up and sweating on it to make it work again with the new Steam auth API. If it wasn't for them we would not have any integration at all.

I don't think anyone knows why exactly, but there are official plugins with Epic and Microsoft and I also assume that the team has also tried to contact Steam, but the Steam Team is currently not necessarily willing to work on an official solution.

I completely agree. My point is that lot of people want to download straight from GOG Galaxy and not being redirected to 3rd party links. If the Steam integration is available directly within GOG Galaxy then it means the team reviewed it as trustworthy, I assume, plus the installation and update flow is smoother. I'll stick to the other app I use for now but I hope GOG Galaxy becomes great again because I have multiple issues with the most important being Steam not working

I didn't need to log out, just exit the GOG Galaxy App

Can confirm that this works.

Wish I had found this thread way sooner, as the version that is installed by Galaxy has been broken for more than half a year...

Installed plugin version 1.2

Signing out of Galaxy is not required, just close it.
