ChrisGamer300: GOG however seem to attract quite as few RTX supported titles with Control, Metro Exodus, Ghostrunner etc and a lot more coming. AMD however is completely up in the air but it doesn't really matter to me, i just dislike all this damn exclusive bullshit in games.
Ganni1987: RTX is just the name Nvidia gave their cards to differentiate them from non Ray Tracing models (the GTX). The games you mentioned have Ray Tracing thanks to DXR (the DirectX 12 implementation). In other words, AMD cards should be able to make use of ray tracing on those said games too as long as DX12 is activated. DXR is vendor neutral (soon even Intel will make use of it).
The place where Nvidia has an edge with ray tracing is when using the Vulkan API, the said API doesn't have a fully fleshed RT yet and Nvidia have developed its' own, That's where AMD falls short in the whole ray tracing talk.
Sorry if I sound like I'm nitpicking, but for a longtime there seems to be a misconception about how ray tracing is actually hooked up in games.
I know how it works and that the implementation does not prevent AMD to run nvidias raytracing since they are both using microsofts DXR which again i have already adressed, No my whole argument revolves around and includes speculation ofc if nvidia would gimp AMDs raytracing in Nvidias supported titles like they have done with gameworks after all it's not the first time they pull stuns to get ahead.
I hope they will allow AMDs implementation to work as just as well in nvidia sponsored titles since Nvidias RT core architecture is different from AMDs, will nvidia allow AMD to optimize their raytracing in those titles, we will wait and see.
