Desperados III - Announcement Trailer

The Desperados‘ first adventure

Desperados III is a modern real-time tactics game set in a ruthless Wild West scenario.

You take control of a ragtag band becoming a highly functional group of unlikely heroes and heroines. The very different strong personalities struggle to cooperate at first, but ultimately join forces to combine their distinctive specialties and challenge a seemingly superior foe.

Command up to five Desperados and use their lethal skills to stealthily thin out the enemy rows
Approach each mission with a big variety of different solutions and paths
Resolve seemingly impossible setups with careful planning and perfectly timed
Witness the glory of classic Wild West scenarios by day and night
Defeat your foes choosing between deadly and non-lethal options, stealth and blazing guns
Adjust the game to your playstyle with various difficulty settings and special replayability challenges

This game is heavily inspired by the first game of the franchise, Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive and is being developed by Mimimi Games.

Another genre that seems to be making a comeback, and this time one that I like.

Interesting that they'll be ignoring Helldorado. Or are they pulling a Final Fantasy/Assassin's Creed 3? Helldorado is actually Desperados 2 part 2, and now we're getting Desperados 3?
OH HELL YES!

...but as MadalinStroe says, wasn't Helldorado the third game in the series? I guess you could count it as the second half of Desperados 2, since the latter ended on a cliffhanger.
The announcement trailer is far from good, but I must say I'm intrigued.
According to the blurb on the official website, 'Desperados III' actually appears to be some sort of (soft) reboot or reimagining of the franchise(?), as in there's no word (yet) on direct continuity with the previous installments in the series:

Actually I'm seeing that as a hint that they'll be focusing on the aesthetic of the first game, rather than the second. The first game is 2D with pixel art sprites. The second one is a 3D game with polygonal models.

Looking good so far! And I actually quite like the trailer; I love the fact that it basically says "yeah, you'll be save-scumming and reloading a lot. Deal with it." :D

However it looks like they've got rid of some of the team members from the original: Sam looks to have been replaced by a female character, while the Sanchez character is now called 'Hector'. Sadness.
Loved the trailer! :)

I still haven't had the chance to play Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, but it's on my wishlist. The gameplay for Desperados III looks awesome! I'm really happy they're making this, the first Desperados is one of my all time favorite games.

Can't wait!
The pairing of franchise and developer couldn't be any more perfect.

Indeed. "Shit, I fucked up again... Reload!" ;)

It's nice to see again that THQNordic is one of the few companies who actually uses the properties it acquires rather than just shoving them in a desk drawer and forgetting about them.
yup i read it a while ago in a PC Gameplay magazine.... everyone was very excited cause it uses shadow tactics engine
i got curious so i searched for videos on youtube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LxMGBkyraI

oh boy ... its zooming and rotating all the way (✖﹏✖) just like almost every newly released game and remake of classics , i also read almost everyone ( 90% or more) seems to love this new engine
so it seems i'm one of the very few ( 1% maybe) that doesnt....

Too many movements, turning and motion(sickness), i' could feel my stomache turning watching it for 15 seconds ...
so i guess i will be saving 'tons' of money cause it looks like this is the way developers go when not using FPP or 3rd person 3d engines to create games.

Anyway back to cardgames like solitaire ( unless they start zooming in and rotating them aswell )back to simple HOG ( until these games also start to rotate and zoom) then its end of drill ... and no more able to buy decent games without getting motionsicknes, having to wear black shades ( for all the flashing and exploding)
sad... very sad ... (✖﹏✖)

They got excited because it uses Unity? That seems pretty stupid.

Not for the engine like unity .... but for the 'amzing' way they can now rotate and zoom in and out which they love so much.

check this:

i noticed many of the games with engine similar like that use weird effects: look at that 'shockwave' like animation
maybe its because of my sensitive eyes but i experience that effect as annoying , and there are lots of it ..
.
Dozens of games have it, the new game that looked like a commandos clone has , its the game with oriental characters, cant remember its name right now, but they think its so great...

its great that its done this way, cause 99% will love it and i am happy they like it, its just that the few that cannot play those games will 'suffer' in a way, cause who would develop games for a minority ? ( like 1%)

Example: if all people would drink only coffee and no tea, everyone would go for the coffe to trade... there is no profit to aim for a very small group, its the bulk, the large number the huge number , thats where the money is.

Anyway, my pc is old and in a few months i might have a new one that can run almost all games :D but what will i run if i cant buy cause all they release are games like that with those effects ? i love solititaire but 100 solitatire games get boring after a while :D

It's definitely uselessly overstyled. Luckily, I'm not interested at all, despite liking Desperados back in the day.
