TheGOGfather: Sure, let's go with that.

Added.
Thanks ;)

Krypsyn: Heh. You doing an open set-up as well?
Probably no but rest of it for sure.
Game with no flavour, low number of roles and only basic ones and clearly posted sample PM to make it unable to discuss them.

Yeah, I'd been wanting to do one for a while, and I remember you almost doing one. Basically, I just want a clean, well-balanced game (flavor and many roles can often unbalance things unintentionally). I care not who runs it.

I'm not sure you can engineer-out people wanting to read into discrepant wording, even where the discrepancy may be meaningless.

Taking out some of the flavor is likely to help though, since you're less likely to have "key" words in a name or title that are read as "tells."

HE SAID KEY! CLEAR SCUM TELL AS KEY ISN'T IN THE PM!

Krypsyn: I am more of a "meat, and a side of veggies" type person. I am not hugely into carbs ... or sweets in general. Just give me a hunk of dead animal, some raw/steamed veggies and/or fruit and I am happy.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: If we serve you a side of Flub, does that count for both hunk of dead animal with side of fruit basket?
Also manages to be several servings of alcohol.

So Amaze!!

Have zero flavor. The role PM would only be role. For example: "Town Cop" or "Mafia Goon". The OP could list win conditions (as well as an exmaple PM for all alignments), so that would be taken care of. Hard to read too much into such a terse PM.

Yes, I agree with that. I got focused on the last part of his statement and glossed over the total elimination of flavor.

You'd be amazed. Or perhaps not.

Wait wait wait.

"Town Cop" didn't have a period.

"Mafia Goon". had a period at the end, after the quote marks.

Krypsyn, could you please read to me all of the punctuation marks of any sort in your PM?

That isn't how quotations work.
I so want to run a game where I intentionally make a mistake in the OP sample PM while on the side I send the real PM, correctly worded to the scum team...

Better yet, give no sample PM in the OP, but also give the scum-team a list of irrefutable fake-claims. :P

Note: I really want to do this, but I just don't know how to deal with scum knowing what roles they are allowed to claim. Even letting scum know what they can claim gives them more information about what isn't in the game. In other words, I would love scum to have a 100% certain claim, just to mess with town, but I don't know how to give them that without giving them too much information about the set-up at the outset.

I thought about the same thing. One possibility is having a long list of roles, everything from cop to The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass, all written by you to choose from.

Well, yes, but, in order for it to be irrefutable, it would necessarily have to not include any roles town may actually possess. That is where it would possibly (probably) give scum too much information.
