So I thought, oh hey cool, ID pack, I can get the Doom games and Quake, so I went ahead and tried to order them. They take me to PayPal and have me pay. Transaction goes thru, but games don't get added to my account. I say okay, give it a few minutes and it'll go thru. Few minutes go by, nothing. Go to orders and they say I still need to pay for it? Okay, maybe it was an error and this one will be the only one they charge. I go thru PayPal again, I get charged... and still no games. I send a support question to GOG about it, 8 hours later, no response, $34 charged to my PayPal, and still no games.
This is not good.

I agree this is not good, but...

If you sent GOG a ticket 8 hours ago, it was 9pm in Poland, so there was nobody around to read it.
It is now 5am in Poland, so there is still nobody around to read it.
They don't work 24/7.

Give them some time (a day or two). Namely, Friday and Monday.

If you are in hurry as gog support takes time. You may contact paypal and ask them to reverse the transaction.
There have been recent complaints that support can be a bit slow, but I suspect that payment issues are a priority and you won't wait too long. You can be confident that support will sort it out. GOG has its problems, but screwing people isn't one of them. A little patience will see you through. (Not that i wouldn't be irked myself!)

Recent? Nothing recent about it. GOG's response time has always been less than spectacular and very inconsistent, since day one of the site. Some things have gotten better, like they now have some weekend support, but their response time, regardless of the severity of the issue, has always averaged at least 24-48 hours (or 1-2 business days; weekends and after hours almost always increases the delay). You can count on them answering eventually and that they will do everything they can to fix the issue, but never count on that happening quickly.

There have been issues in the past where a processing error on PayPal's part has caused the transaction to not complete on GOG's end. Usually it is something GOG can easily fix... when they get to it.

Avoid paying by Paypal if you can. I think that's where the problem usually lies. I never had a problem using Visa/Mastercard/ AmEx /. Once the purchase was made the game showed up on my account instantly.

If you can't get a credit card because of bad credit just go to a bank near you and sign up for secured credit card. Anyone can get one of these even with bad credit. Your credit will be based on how much you can deposit.

No you can't. I know of at least four people who cannot access their friends page for months now (in my case, since 22 May). GOG is aware of it and I don't believe they are doing anything about it. The best answer I got is "We are investigating the problem internally, but I can't promise an ETA when this might get fixed. I apologize for any inconvenience caused".

I have probably made several thousand transactions on Paypal since the late 90's, hundreds of them on GOG. Never had a single problem.

Gotta agree with mrkgnao. I've bought all of my games here on GOG via Paypal, which is a couple hundred transactions. Never had an issue.

My experience has been exactly the opposite. PayPal works every time, but my two credit cards and my debit card are consistently blocked because GOG is incorporated in Cyprus, which is considered a haven for credit card fraud by the three different banks that issued the cards (Chase, Capital One and my credit union).

A secured credit card is likely to be completely useless since cards like that are often severely restricted and cannot make any international purchases. Sometimes they can't be used online at all.

Paypal works really good IF you have some standing money in your account there. I tend to have $50 laying around to buy games, and in those cases you will almost never have issues. But that's my experiences with it.

I haven't got any trouble with Paypal so far. :) Works like a charm.

I pay exclusively with Paypal, and never had any problems .

I occasionally had this issue when I used a massive (and massively awful) bank. Wells Fargo liked to cut me off in the middle of Insomnia or when trying to buy gas in Murdo, South Dakota. Which is pretty funny, because all I spend money on is GOG and gas in random desolate places in the western US. (Currently: Kingman, AZ)

I just found a nice credit union and haven't had any problems since. Well not with them, GOG wound up running a few months of purchases all at once some time ago, but that's all worked out now. :)

And to the OP: This will be fixed.

I had once, but it was my fault. I exited the paypal page before the transaction was completed, but apparently after the money was sent. GOG rectified it the next day, so no real problem, but I'm more careful now.
