It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Telika: Not using it.

1) Even though gog forces us to, I prefer to not rely on beta software.

2) If that "show what you are currently playing" thing is not optional, I don't see how I'd ever use galaxy.
Same goes for me, until there are privacy settings for showing if we are online or not, and what we are playing, no way am I using it. I don't do multiplayer games, and I like my privacy.

It's high time the site implemented an 'invisible' or 'away' option as well.
No plans to use Galaxy for now.

I'm not against it, it's just that the primary reason why I use other clients is to be able play my DRM encumbered AAA games. *sniff* GOG is too sane for that, so their client is kind of redundant for me.

If Galaxy is getting us games that would otherwise be Steam/ Origin/ Uplay exclusives, I'm very happy it exists. :)
Not a fan of alpha-beta or any kind of pre-release software... So I'm not using it as well...

In the future, maybe... Let's wait for the stable, complete version (the beta tag to be out)!
As a fellow Linux user, I acutally cannot test it right now. Perhaps with Wine, but who would want to do that configuration and everything...

Anyway, I'm not even interested. The only think that'll might make me try it are the multi-player capabilities, but everything else, especially achievments, are just useless ballast for me.
I´m not currently interested on it, as I already made my own "client" for listing the games with screenshots etc. The only way I see myself using it is that GOG finally get all those AAA games with online gameplay, and I end up playing some online.

I had my time with achievements, voice chat and all those things, but I don´t really need them.
Thanks for everyone's replies and insight.
Installed it.
Playing my games through it.
Works fine.

My only complaint is that it should have a "zoom" option for the forum section. I'm getting old and my eyes are not what they once were.

john_hatcher: Normally, I'd just ignore the client, since there is nothing I need from it. But with the last "good news" changes in the past, I think this optional client will only be optional as long as a certain percentage of users don't use the client. Once this minority reaches a certain threshold, there will be another "good news" post where GOG is telling everyone that "two indepentdant systems are not profitable and we want to bring you the best experience and blablabla".

I know that I will most problably get the shits for it, but that is my opinion.
I've been using the GOG client now. And I have no problem with it.
But if GOG ever decides to "force" anyone to use the client to play their games (like Steam does), then I'm done with GOG.

F4LL0UT: I fail to see how they force us to since both the Downloader and Galaxy are optional.

Telika: Then use the gog downloader and see. You're "technically" free to, it's just made discouragingly tedious.
I have never used Galaxy nor the Downloader. I've downloaded the install files manually through my web browser all those years. Worked fine for me. So for me there is no problem that needs solving through additional software.

Maybe for you there isn't, but for me there is. With the Downloader, it automatically put all of my downloads in the same place, GOG DOWNLOADS in My Documents. I could download 10 games at a time, and be done. Not so with the browser downloader. That automatically puts them in the Downloads directory unless each and every download I manually go in and select "Save as" or each and every time go into downloads and copy and paste them into the GOG Downloads directory.

So for someone who wishes to have all of the GOG install files in the same place, and ONLY their GOG install files in there, there is a problem that needs solving through additional software as soon as the Downloader stops functioning. And it WILL stop functioning, they've been pretty up front about that.
Browser works for me also,no problems...
I'm not using it, yet and maybe it stays that way. I'm not keen on beta testing, but I'll surely install it out of curiosity one day.
I'm not using it yet.

OldFatGuy: Not using it. Almost certainly won't ever be using it. I have no interest in clients. Optional or otherwise.
Sorry but I kind of find this funny because you like the downloader, but the downloader is technically a client. In computing, a client is a piece of hardware or software that accesses a server to get information or services. Your using a web browser to post which is technically a client. All Galaxy is, is a stripped down web browser essentially.

I just find it funny when people say the like the downloader and dislike clients (aka Galaxy) when there both essentially clients... especially when Galaxy is basically the downloader + more options.

EDIT: And no disrespect or anything meant to you OldFatGuy even though some people want to make it seem that way. Just find how people distinguish the two a little funny. :)

You are just being a pedant. You know damn well what people mean but you just had to butt-in with an off-topic 'technicality' .

Just like those that, when (talking about guns) someone says 'clip' and they just can't stop themselves from telling you 'it's a magazine'. Or someone calls a quad-copter a 'drone' and they just can't stop themselves from chiming in with saying 'it's not a drone - which is a UAV blah blah blah; it's a 'remotely piloted aircraft'. Or someone says 'irregardless' blah blah..

We all know those distinctions, but pedants just can't help themselves to telling it to the world so they can show off their 'pedantedness'. /p

What's sad about this is you actually think that people know these distinctions... um no, no they do not. People think clients in terms of gaming and think Steam, all I did was clarify what an actual client is. I can guarantee you there are many people here that have no idea the downloader is really a client, that they love using and hate clients...

Not that I really care what you think though... I never said there was anything wrong with his view, I just found it a little funny as someone who is in the computer field. :)

PS: And FYI there is a very different distinction between a clip and magazine, people should be educated so they know the difference otherwise we continue to promote people thinking things that aren't correct...
