But couldn't get into their website. Got me a Dell instead.
Was something going on?

Oh, BTW - G2A has a sweet deal going on for the new Descent game - $12

I'm not sure why Alienware bothers.

All it does is **** up the site for legitimate customers and gives the same three
scalpers fodder to promote on key sites.

Given that Alienware is owned by Dell, and a considerable percentage of the price you pay is just for the Alienware name, I'd say you're probably better off that way.

Why not a Steam Machine? :P
No joke, I'm dying for one of these!

You could just build one. It's just a standard PC, and SteamOS is free.

I know, that's what a ton of folks are sayin' out there about these machines. It's just that things in retail are different and part picking ranges dramatically from country to country. Yup, doing this in here is practically asking for troubles. Peculiar stuff, but it happens.

What trouble exactly?

Alienware is more gaming oriented so you probably have less chances to have a no-name PSU in your PC.

I got a very good deal on the Alienware Alpha and I'm pretty happy with it. It's more powerful than its specs would seem to indicate - although I don't have Witcher 3, I've seen the i3/8gb Alphas run it at decent settings. I'm just using it as a really tiny desktop PC, though, not as a living room PC, which is what it's really intended to be.
I just looked over the specs for a lot of the Steam Machines and for what you get, they're drastically overpriced. I couldn't possibly recommend the SM avenue for anyone wanting a "PC-like" experience for the prices they're asking, when the mid to lower end machines are either already fairly rapidly becoming obsolete, or only have a year's worth of relevance left.

Best parts are in a shady district in the almighty downtown. Lotsa scammers.
You gotta scavenge a lot and always (always) keep an eye open for them baddies. That's why in a ton of places in the third world we gotta go retail, I mean, "comfy" shopping malls.
Sad, eh? That's why I say BURN DOWN THE MALLS!
Buuuurn 'em! :P

Awesome to hear that. People who bash stuff like this really don't know the struggles to pick and assemble stuff. I know, it's satisfying and such but not everyone's up to the task..

It's still a Dell, so that's damning with faint praise...

Ten years ago, I'd have agreed with you unreservedly, but in my experience Dell actually sells some pretty sweet hardware these days, at least some of it.

More money than sense then. Alienware is the same equipment as other machines, but costs x% more, just for a glowy alien face. This would not even be on a list of recommended laptops. Same applies to your second comment, g2a is a scammer site.
