TStael: And EA Origin is, IMO, a courtesy, as Amalur is so CD friendly and commercially messy, all at once. And at least EA pricing is fairly attractive, vs Morrowind insult here, eh?
vulchor: How is $20 for Morrowing an insult? It's very much worth every penny, and with mods you can get it looking just as good as a new game today. In my opinion it is by far the best of the entire Elder Scrolls franchise. Skyrim doesn't have anything on Morrowind. You have to mod Skyrim to even make the game a challenge.
As the first time buyer, surely indeed not - it is a bargain, because I rate Morrowind as one of the best cum finest games ever published.
This is one of those games that I would not say I pick up again every year, because the gameplay value is extraordinarily long and requires quite some time investment. But I will feel a compelling pull to replay Morrowind ever so often as long as I will game. It is that good.
But...
I would prefer to rebuy my physical CD for 6.03 sterling as is the going price with Amazon, without either Steam (as there), or Steamless premium attached (as here), as this was how the game was first published. Bait and switch, feel I - because Morrowind was indeed published to have lasting value.
But I meanwhile highly recommend Morrowind for anyone whom might not have discovered it earlier, unless you happen to come across the original game CDs by a very happy chance in a second hand store...
There: just pounce!
This is is how my love affair with Larian started, for the record, with second hand Divine Divinity. And thence - it has been pre-order for everything, and KS backing too. THIS is bait n bait - faire n square, to me.
But switching unto Steam or premium pricing years past just leaves me cold and bothered, even if I value gog.com and have come to accept Steam as lifeline for non-corporate publishers.
