TVippy: When's the surprise gonna be revealed?
About 40 hours ago. It's mentioned at the top most post of the very page you're looking at but just in case you don;t see it:

https://www.gog.com/news/lets_celebrate_abes_20th_anniversary

edit: Just in case you still have an issue, the surprise was a free copy of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Visit the front page of the website and look for the banner along the top.

reedit: I've got about $28 left in my wallet. Trying to decide between the Hob bundle or finally buying Kerbal Space.

PenguinJim: I'll just come up with a more positive counter-suggestion: GOG could partner with Microsoft to port these games to the Xbox One.
How about: GOG could partner with Microsoft to bring the Microsoft games to GOG. ;P
(I know it's most likely not GOG's fault that they are not already here.)

Painted_Doll: No offense , but how many games ( soundtracks , DLCs , upgrades don't count ) are actually on sale ?
About 210, when GOG's game types are set correctly. Well, probably less really different games, as the game types do not differentiate between standard and deluxe editions. You only can filter out soundtracks, DLCs and upgrades. But that's even what you have requested. :P

jrich3500: FYI I posted this in the general forum as well but destructoid is having a huge 460 game giveaway in conjunction with the gog big sale
They do not really give them away. They sell them for your data. ;)

You can also wait and take care of your backlog (:

I've bought:

Spacechem - one of the most fascinating puzzle games I've ever played. Looking at screenshot and description I'd never buy the game, but now I know it's brilliant. Still fighting with building crystal on 6th planet ;) I received the game as a gift (thanks, mrcrispy83!) and now I want to say thanks to devs and make someone else happy.

Blackwell Bundle - I've played the first one on Steam and wasn't impressed. But some people say that the next chapters are better. And I'm also grateful that someone is still making nice games in that genre and also ports them for Linux users, so I wanted to say thanks to developers, again ;)
Dear gog,

Mnemon: I am pondering a little, too on what to pickup from my shortlist below. I don't really want to buy that many, so that list will be pruned. Any additional opinions are welcome:).

amund: I'll comment on some of these, all are good games though.
Thank you :). Mhm. Do you have any favourites mod wise for Banished?

I like the Colonial Charter mod, it add a lot of new stuff like buildings, Beautiful World makes the map feel more realistic. You can find these mods here: https://banishedinfo.com/
I noticed that bionic dues is no longer on sale, wasn't it supposed to be on sale until 25 of this month?
was it on sale by mistake, was it taken down by mistake, was I imaging it?

Ethics are also coming into play. Some of the games I've been purchasing were ones I've um downloaded elsewhere.

Either that or they're some of the ones ex #3 ran off with.

phaolo: - Last Federation Collection - 3.8$
That might depend a lot if you like a sci-fi setting with a lot of political scheming.
I enjoyed it for 15-20 hours and then decided to take a break, but haven't gotten back to it yet.
It's quite interesting and well-made in my opinion, and the whole thing feels imaginative and original.
Maybe watching a youtube gameplay video would help to draw a more definite picture :)

The only game so far I'm interested is Starpoint Gemini Warlords... Has anyone any thoughts on that?
Kinda playing five great games or so already, so there's no hurry to buy more :)

I agree to the opinion of those people you are mentioning. The games will get better BUT they are all about the characters, the artstyle and the voice acting so I would say it is mandatory that you enjoyed at least one of them already. These games are not about hard puzzles or complex game mechanics. They are all about atmosphere and characters.
Too bad that Star Ruler 2 and its DLC aren't on sale .

Mnemon: NEO Scavenger

The one I am probably most ambivalent about. I like RPGs. but generally more story driven ones. I don't really like pure Roguelikes - but as above the type of game where there's at least enough strategy underlying (see FTL) do appeal. I don't mind dated graphics; but the odd perspective of the map screen, from the screenshots, would probably bother me. I run a high resolution screen (3840*2160) - so scaling might be a concern.
Great game but not for everybody; i had many hours of fun (haven't finished it yet, still trying) but i can't recommend it. Not because it isn't good, but because i did recommend it to a couple of friends but they were put off by the difficulty, the graphics, the absence of any animation etc. even though they liked the concept of it. You need to apply some imagination while you're playing; if you can do it the graphics won't be a problem. As for the difficulty, it gets a little easier when you learn the mechanics and what you're supposed to do to survive at least the first day, but it will still be a difficult game anyway. Best course of action is to try the demo and see for yourself.
