I have not played so many new games, but from what I played I can recommend Wicher 3 and from re-released games Diablo, Blade Runner, Silent Hill 4 and Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders .

You remind me that I'd gladly buy a Switch if they'd make DOCKED ONLY version without all the handheld crap. Handheld gaming is an anti-feature to me (especially since the performance is crap).

Have to think on this a bit.

Once I've started lists, I've looked up release dates and more-than-not found most fall 2010 and earlier. So back to the drawing board...

Switch performance is actually pretty good, and if you only wanted to play in docked mode just never take it out of the dock.

And all the waste (monetary and electronic) for handheld features? Also, if they build a docked-only one it can communicate to games that it is so that they don't pop up "ok undock now and do this stupid marble madness puzzle with your gyros" (yet another stupid part of many stupid parts of Breath of the Wild, a truly terrible game). It'd be either cheaper or more performant (or both) to have a docked-only version, as well as more environmentally friendly. Until then, no Switch for me.

Some of my top picks did go below the cutoff, but it wasn't too hard to find replacements.

Dark Souls (I think it just scrapes in for ten years)
Dark Souls 3
Bloodborne
NieR: Automata
Flight Simulator

Rsgames246:
1- Dirt Rally
2-Ori and the Blind Forest
3- Steamworld Heist
4- Nidhogg
5- Limbo

My random top games of 2011 up. Best games I've played list would include Hollow Knight, Portal 2 (because the first is older) and maybe Brothers a tale of two sons. Best as in more fun/immersion.
Hello Rsgames246!

I guess my top 5 games from the past ten years are somewhat unusual, because I am more for the types of games, that do something unique and different from the overall modern games industry. Often those love-or-hate relationships, where there is not much in between--either you really do like them or you despise them.

My favourites, which I am still enjoying playing or re-playing today, and that have not left my HDD (/SSD respectively) since I first installed them, are:

"Lumo"
"Rain World"
"Firewatch" (&/or) "A Short Hike"
"Jump King"
"Infinifactory" (&/or "TIS-100" or "Spacechem" or any Zachtronic's programming game except for "Shenzhen I/O")

Honorable mentions go to:

"VVVVVV"
(My alltime favourite, but it slipps out of the time frame by one year. For me it was this masterpiece that started my rising interest in indiegames!)

"Wonder Boy and the Dragon's Trap"
(A beautifully animated remake [or remaster, I do not care about those terms] of a really old Sega game, with charming characters, nice redrawn scenes and backgrounds, as well as catchy, joyful tunes.)

Of course there are many or too many others praiseworthy for various reasons, however among some even much older games I kept these installed, and find myself returning to them every now and then.

Kind regards,
foxgog

I would not say these are the "best ever", but i can say - subjective - that these games have something outstanding, which made them for me very enjoyable & memorable...because i could "feel" these games on so many layers physically and mentally:

Inside - This game looks so simple. But it plays with people's fears (fear of heights, drowning, tightness, loss of control etc) so well ... & the game physics ... I never had the feeling of moving (falling, swimming) more than in this game.
& who would have thought that you could like mindless people and regret having to leave them behind to ... Well, what for, actually?

PUBG (the first year) - if you can enjoy Battle Royale. PUBG was & is my first and only one BR - the adrenaline, the tension...plus pure joy just because of the crazy buggy game engine.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - because of the intense, outstanding play of the protagonist. If you played the game just watch some footage on youtube from the filming. Pretty impressive. Outstanding Sound helps to get into this character to understand her backstory. One kind of a body of work in which the transitions between reality and play are seamless on this serious topic.

Witcher 3 (what a surprise) - only first love or pepperoni pizza feels as intense as this game in its best moments. Anyone who has ever experienced...a very good pepperoni pizza knows what I mean.

Cyberpunk 2077 if you go Icarus style & got (partially) burned. I enjoyed this pure "megalomania" of a gameworld. Hey CDPR: you can do bigger than that - Go for it !!
Difficult question, my list would be something like that:
5. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
4. Judgment
3. Mirror's Edge Catalyst
2. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
1. Streets of Rage 4
There are wayyyyy too many games, so as a sign of rebelling against only TOP 5, I'll include 6 games instead.

BloodBorne
Doom (2016)
Genshin Impact
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Ori and the Blind Forest
Terraria
