The Witcher 3 and The Last of Us are by far over anything I experienced this past decade. Sure, there are other games out there, quite good, but these two are on a whole different level. Outstanding visuals, interesting characters, good writing, memorable soundtracks, enjoyable gameplay (well, TW3 falls a bit short in this category, but that does not take away from its greatness).
"Well damn! Oh, no! Holy shit!", there is also Saints Row The Third, who doesn't like a bit of mayhem every now and again? When it comes to laughs, this one delivered in copious amounts. "You're handling this naked thing better than I though you would." Zimos is one of my favourite characters ever.
toxicTom mentioned The Walking Dead Season One. I liked it a lot, good characters (especially Clementine and Lee), decent writing, difficult choices, interesting design. Certain things about it I disliked, but overall it deserves a spot on the list.
Unpopular opinion here, but I really enjoyed Dead Island. I still remember Moresby and the jungle, the chaos, the running around, knocking foes to the ground (played as Sam B), etc. Or the first time in the jungle, face to face with a butcher. Also, suiciders had a tendency to play hide and seek. So, enjoyable gameplay with a solid character. Solid as in mass, not depth of personality. There isn't much to say about DI, it's nothing revolutionary (quite the contrary), but it can be fun. The sequel, Riptide, was mostly forgettable.
