Just gonna say this:

If you loved Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, you will love Deus Ex: Human Revolution, only more so since it has better combat, a cyberpunk setting, and the same kind of open-city gameplay, only larger.

SpirlaStairs: Also, NPC's are really sensitive about having things thrown at them.

I threw a cardboard box at a SWAT officer and everyone started shooting at me :(
Really? It's a sequel to Deus Ex, though! That was the best part of the original. I knew the sequel would get watered down.

Whiteblade999: I'm a bit worried about the replayability, everything up to where I am has been on rails. Hopefully it opens up a bit more.
Not sure what you mean here. Deus Ex was on rails except for the city hubs and this game is the same. The openness is in the varied ways to complete the linear missions.

This, the game feels more like vampire bloodlines at times than Deus ex. The Detroit hub definitely feels like vampire bloodlines. The fact there is not nearly as much item interaction as the first two deus ex games. The take downs that happen in third person instead of first. The mandatory boss battles I haven't gotten to yet.

One thing though...

Vampire Bloodlines had way better animations in the normal conversations.

But to be fair, so far the first mission in the game trying to rescue the hostages is better designed than any of ht elevels in VAmpire Bloodlines I think. Still not as good as Deus ex level design though...

But yeah, I came into the game not expecting something of Deus ex 1 or 2 quality but expecting it be more like Vampire Bloodlines and Alpha Protoocol. And I'm very pleased with the game so far.
Man once you reach the big hub area the loading stutter is terrible. Obviously it was built to stream it in on consoles and when you walk around a corner or something the game stutters for a couple seconds while it loads. A lot of games do this recently but this one is especially bad at it. Damn consoles!

StingingVelvet: Oh hey, that's now. Sadly I have errands to run.
"Yessss... anything that keeps you North Americans away from the game fills me with delight," snarled lowyhong with malicious glee, all the while munching on a bunch of sour grapes.

Man, you must've eaten a LOT of sour grapes over the years :P
After all this time/hype we get a game that doesn't suck. Very nice.

The tutorial mission was completely on rails and the hostage mission didn't have much in the way of multiple paths. That changed when you can actually leave the Sarif building though, that is for sure.
6 hours in and I am loving the game so far. Then again I did enjoy both Deus Ex games and loved Vampire: The Masquerade. So this game is right up my alley, I guess.
Gah, why must I wait until Friday for this?

Curse you regional release dates! CURSE YOU!
Man this game is getting realllllllly good.

At least we'll know all about any bugs in the game?

Speaking of that, I'm not far in due to a restart and the single bug I've seen but -- well, I've seen only one bug!

Saves corrupted. I'm not sure why they did, but they corrupted something awful. Two freeze-crashes in a row. Verifying the cache fixed it perfectly, though.

Also, the dev team seems to be very aware that a single misstep will have them flayed alive by the community, their release-day patch to fix a relatively rare problem with ATI drivers that could cause crashing practically included an apology.
