Site downloads slow unless you pay $5.95/day or $8.95/month. Do the month, worth it. I think this is what GOG used to be??? They have the 64-bit patch. Go for the multiplayer gold edition if you pay, the smaller if you don't.

I used this site a while back before i started using GOG.
This site doesn't look legit. More like an "abandonware" one.

Old Games (both com and sk, and Abandonia, and quite a few more) are "abandonware" sites, meaning they make the games available without the owners consent (but also without the owners complaining). GOG has asked us before not to link to those sites, since trying to convince the rights holder that going DRM-Free while the users give a way to pirate the games in the forum isn't the best thing.

I know that you were trying to help, but be aware that linking those sites isn't good for GOG.

Wishbone: If you find it, you might also take a look at this. I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for whether or not it works, but a quick google netted me this:
The Idiot's Guide to Playing Civ2 on Windows 7 64bit
On top of that, you might have to find the correct video codec in order to get the videos to show. The version that comes with the game does not work on modern computers

Guys, I own hard copies of Alpha Centauri (+AX), both Call to Powers, etc. Thanks! (And GOG copies.)

Sounds like for Civ II I am digging up the CD, and then mucking about with codecs and such - hopefully some of the fan sites are useful.

IIRC, the "Civ 2: Test of Time" was NOT actually Civ II, despite saying on the box that Civ II was included, right?

But, graphics aside, did it have an option for faithful Civ II (Gold, ideally) gameplay?

(Discussions like this are why I love GOG *so* much.)

While we have His Excellency TheEnigmaticT here - is there any hope of getting Civ I & II on GOG? Pretty, pretty please? Take my money!

I bought Test of Time from a bargain bin at one point, and as far as I recall, it did also contain the original game. Mind you, my memory is a bit hazy on the details. What I do remember vividly is that I tried playing the Test of Time expansion, but quit almost immediately. I can't tell you exactly what was wrong with it, but I know that I hated it.

Not sure about Civ2, but a lot of the older Win9x games need the Indeo codec.

The graphics was just messy. It was hard to see what was going on, with units blending in with the tiles they were standing on, and things just looking unappealing. Where the original Civ 2 had a very clean (if a bit simple) look to it, Civ 2: Test of Time was cluttered and unappealing.

I have nothing insightful to add, but would greatly welcome any Civ game on GOG, even my most despised civ: Civ V.
Any of the civ games would be an instabuy for me like System Shock 2 was.

Since it seems to not exist as download I would advice to buy it offline.

But since the rights would be at Take 2 (my guess) it would certainly be interesting to ask them why there isn't a download.

Personally I can understand people falling back to an abandonia site when the game is not available as download or box for a reasonable price but in this case you can still buy an untouched box for a reasonable price.

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on playing Civ 2 these days but I would like to pile on and say that this would be an insta-buy for me too, should this game ever wander onto GOG.
