As our catalog gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalog, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

With the next GOG.com Gem Promo, we'd like to put a spotlight on one of the best hack-and-slash RPG Sacred Gold. In the game you are given the choice of one of eight character classes including Dark Elf, Gladiator, Vampire Lady among others. Each hero starts from a different location, has its own quests and skills, but they all have a common goal: to save the fantasy world of Ancaria from the evil necromancer Shaddar. The Gold edition includes all improvements added in Sacred Plus and the Sacred Underworld expansion, which added two new characters and new quests that follow the events at the end of the original Sacred. The game sold more than 1.8 million copies worldwide and we believe with the 60% discount it's going to boost this number significantly :)

So don't wait and grab Sacred Gold today for only $3.99! The promo ends tomorrow, May 19 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (9:59 a.m. GMT).

Great game, great price - but I've already got it. I've beaten the original game, but still haven't beaten the expansion.

Even though it's a great game, I wouldn't compare it to Diablo. For me at least, this game has a much "slower" feel to it. Diablo seems more compacted, in that it's easier to know where you are going, and what to do.
This game is much, much more open. The World is absolutely humongous. You can spend 30 hours just walking around exploring, and when you look at your world map, it seems like you've hardly scratched the total area. The Quests are also rather different. Each area has different people offering you quests, but it's not always easy to find them. You go to a town, and look on the map to see who is highlighted (I forget which color the use to indicate that someone has a quest for you). The thing is it seems to be a come and go kind of system. You go to a town once, and nobody has a quest, you come back and they might or might not. The quests just don't seem very linear, so you are required to keep coming back to each town to check. There are the main quests which are linear, and if you only wanted to finish the game, then it's not a problem. But if you are a completionist (as I tend to be), then trying to get as many quests as possible can take forever.
The monsters also respawn very quickly, so even though you might spend a few hours cleaning out a certain area, before long, it will be full of enemies again.
Also, unlike Diablo 2 which has 3 different scenes (each with it's own unique look and feel), this game is one giant world that has you unlock parts of it as you go along.

I do highly recommend this game if you like exploring, and hacking, and lots of different kinds of items.

Oh, and one final word of advice, watch out for the dragons. I think there are 7 or 8 dragons in the game that you have to kill. I found out the hard way that even after you kill one of the beasties, they can still fry you butt with their dragon fire after they are dead. My son still thinks it's one of the funniest things he ever saw when after I finally killed one of the dragons, and I was standing in front of it for about 5 seconds, all of a sudden a burst of fire came out of it and roasted me.

Got this game I love it. I also Have Sacred 2 but it just seems not as good as the first one I can't seem to put my finger on it as to why that is.
dammit no one mentions the guns :X this game has the guns, it was one of the first rpgs i have seen implementing guns, the more recent being torchlight the dwarf can get pretty powerful using them...too bad he cant ride horses...

ChaunceyK: Y'all simply HAVE to know my question by now...

Can the combat be played in turn-based mode?
No, it can't, since the game is much more combat-oriented than, say, Arcanum, and because most enemies are cannon fodder (on their own at least) compared to the PC.

Heck yeah, he's really cool with them, and sometimes even says "I love the smell of gunpoweder early in the morning"!

Already own, bought it during an earlier promo. (May have been the Christmas sale?)
Not a bad game, one I've actually found the time to finish, playing as the vampiress. Even though I own this on disc AUD $2.75 off a bargain sale, I'll buy it again from GOG as part of my reduction in physical clutter.
You have got a deal! bought! Hopefully we will see Sacred 2 and Titan Quest here too at some point.

ShogunDarius: then why isnt it stated on the game's page?
We don't officially support it. Any more than we support Mac or Linux gaming. If you buy it, there's a bit of caveat emptor, there. The game may not run on your system.
Passing up the game today, but still love the flash sale promos...
I already had it on Steam, but bought it anyway...I like my old games to be where they belong.
Once again GOG you prove why you are the best!
I have this one...this is a good game for any action/rpg fans. It's up there with Titan Quest as one of the best of the Diablo style games.

The only thing that annoys me is the respawning monsters. It's great if you like to grind levels, though.
Have had the game on Steam for the past 3 years, otherwise I'd pick it up now.
Bought. Now I have to find time to play it after I finish TW1&2 -_-
Have it already. Hope next deal has something good for me!
