PixelBoy: November-December update should probably also mention the original Broken Sword on DotEmu, which was added to Director's Cut as separate downloads, as EN, DE, FR, IT and SP language versions.

Trilarion: Thank you for this information. :)

Apart from the download size, is the GOG version inferior? Does it contain less languages?
I think GOG version is English only, although I have never tried to install it so can't say for sure.

Apache Longbow (sim) - 6$ - 4.5€
Still Life 2 (adventure) - 10$ - 7.6€

GOG brought many games in the last two months to us. Also very desperately wanted (Thief, Syndicate, ...) with Square Enix jumping the wagon. Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods is a standalone extension from a new developer in the series and quickly developed into the worst rated game on GOG. Also nice: there are games from every genre.

The deployment of relatively bad games is continueing. Mindless simulators are still strong (some are even in german only), but adventures on the border to casual games are catching up. The Paradox strategy titles as big bundles are stuffed in between.

IMO, the DRM-free release of Fortune Summoners more than makes up for it. ;)
Of course some pearls are everywhere. It would be really good, if somebody would write positive reviews on GamersGate's site about them. And for Fortune... people actually did! :)

GOG

- GOG has worldwide only $ prices, conversion according to actual rate 1€=1.32$.

Legend of Grimrock (rpg) - 15$ - 11.4€
Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition (rpg) - 42.5$ - 32.2€
Botanicula (adventure) - 10$ - 7.6€

With 24 releases in 2 months this might be a record so far in terms of numbers. And we have seen many newer (indie) games coming to GOG. New price points (15$, 20$) are introduced. My feeling is that some recent titles like Assassin's Creed or HoMM 5 are overpriced. Should be 30-50% less pricy. And Anachronox was added to my wishlist. A real gem that I missed somehow.

DotEmu

Either they made holidays or concentrated on other plattforms or they are in serious trouble. Only one release!

Palm Kingdoms 2 Deluxe (strategy) - 12$ - 10€
Sentinel 3: Homeworld (strategy) - 8$ - 6€

You can see:
- many re-releases old games available already on GOG
- many mini-games for cheap (<5$) but probably also limited duration and content
- many special simulations for whoever needs them at a typical price of 20$

Some gems inside? Yes, I would count Devil Whiskey, Avernum and Deponia (is released in english end of june) among them.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare (action) - 30$ - 23.8€
Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers (action) - 10$ - 7.9€
Resonance (adventure) - 10$ - 7.9€

With 26 releases in 2 months this is a new record in terms of numbers. Also there continue to be loads of classic games. However some recently published games are in very high price ranges (mostly Tales of Monkey Island and Sam & Max). It might be they are expensive and overpriced which is a new category for GOG.

DotEmu

Lionhar: Legacy of the Crusader - Download is 100MB more than on GOG?

Crusader Kings II (strategy) - 40$/€
Fortune Winds: Ancient Trader (strategy) - 10$/€

Several Simulators (Game fishing, Camping, Surgery, Oil Plattform, Road construction, Construction Machinery, ...) for around 20$/€

You can see:
- too many simulations nobody really needs for uncompetitive prices
- some gems: Crusader Kings II and "Last Half of Darkness - Society of the Serpent Moon" (very good rating)

Trilarion: Lionhar: Legacy of the Crusader - Download is 100MB more than on GOG?
Could be the mulit-language support (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, compared to only English on GOG)?
I know you arnt covering Steam with the releases, however there are 3 recent releases that dont require the Steam client to be running at all.

Divine Divinity
Thief
Thief II : Metal Age

Just tested them and they started straight up without having to start Steam first.

There are some new topware games there and they also add Messiah:
http://www.dotemu.com/en/pc-games/company/plug-in-digital
http://www.dotemu.com/en/download-game/4191/messiah

About Llioneheart: Very likely only multilingual language support. The german part of the game should only be a small text-file (voices are in english, checked some review), which you can find in the mulitlingual thread here and works perfectly with the gog version. Maybe some other languages needed some more updated files and the compression isn't so good.

Unmechanical (action) - 10$ - 7.9€
Mutant Mudds (arcade) - 10$ - 7.9€
Symphony (shooter) - 10$ - 7.9€

In total numbers this is a new record (33 releases in 2 months) but the increase is exclusively due to newer games. In the last two months older and newer releases nearly balanced out each other - a novelty for GOG. Let's see how this will develop in the future.

Exceptionally good rated (5 stars) releases are: Pirates, King of Dragon Pass (review), Blitzkrieg Anthology and Gemini Rue.

Seriously bad rated releases are Ultima IX (killer of the series), Tomb Raider Darkness and Deus Ex 2 Invisible.

Some releases are quite pricy, especially the Telltale adventures with 20$ and more per game, but I would recommend gamers to just consider other adventures from the GOG catalogue instead - they are cheaper and higher rated and there are many.

DotEmu

They had 7 releases of games which are already on GOG with the same $ price, but higher € prices. Apart from that

Sega Genesis Pack from 3$, 2.5€ per item
Majesty Gold HD for 10$/€ (also available on GamersGate)

I fear that DotEmu is far behind in the race of the download shops.

GamersGate

Monument Builders Titanic (sim) - 10$/€

Highland Warriors (rts) - 10$/€
The Bluecoats North vs South (strategy) - 10$/€
Spaceforce Constellations (tbs) - 20$/€

Not so many than last period and not so many good either, but at least some which aren't on GOG. Unmechanical and Mutant Mudds is the same $ price than on GOG, but higher € prices.

Spaceforce Constellations looked promising, but the reviews are bad unfortunately and the price is a bit too high. The new North and South seems to fall short of the original according to the reviews. I played the original for quite some time. There was not much gameplay that one can do wrong...?

Holy what, a state of the industry report! How did I miss this thread? Upvoted every post.
Thanks for the nice comment. Maybe I should add that I put Gemini Rue and Dragon Pass from the releases of the last two months on my wishlist. I will buy them during GOG's next christmas sale.

Also I forgot to include To the Moon (link) from GamersGate. It's a nice small indie adventure/interactive story, and quite high rated.

In total numbers this is the same as the two months before and this was an all time high. Also the number of classics is stable at 60%, the number of new releases stable at 40%. Exceptionally many classics are highly rated: Carmaggedon, Startopia, Battle Realms and Moonbase have 5 star ratings.

Also the new games are highly rated. However I wonder if they will stand the test of time and are still high rated when they are older. In short I wonder if gamers rate them equally or if there are systematic biases. Anyway La Mulana and FTL have 5 star ratings.

s in 2 months) but the increase is exclusively due to newer games. In the last two months older and newer releases nearly balanced out each other - a novelty for GOG. Let's see how this will develop in the future.

There is no seriously bad rated game this time and the price is at or under 20$.

Aeon Command (strategy) - 8$ - 6€

Additionally tons of soundtracks DRM free and DLC (Crusader Kings 2, HoI 3) and tons of useless Sims (Camping, Shipyard, Special transport, Public transport, ...).

I dare to say that the quality limits on GamersGate for released games are quite lower than anywhere else. This means that most of the games in this list are probably not what you want to play. Highly rated are only: Eryi's Action (arcade), Battlepaths (rpg) and War of the Human Tanks (strategy).

I found Aeon Command (strategy) and Dangerous (rpg) interesting but nothing I must have. The price of Deponia 2 (20$ versus 28€) seems very strange. Better to buy it at GOG.

Steam

GOG users have assembled a list of kind of DRM free games on Steam, i.e. the games that can start independently of Steam. Of course this might change with some updates and archiving and installable is probably not possible, so it's only kind of DRM free but nvertheless you can find the list here
