I loved the first one. The second one was pretty good too, but the cars fell apart too easily in my opinion.

Interested to see if the formula can still work as well today.
I'm wondering how will they solve the running over pedestrians issue. They had to censor it in more ways back then, it seems almost impossible to release an uncensored version now
Yea I hope they manage to capture what made the first one special. Update to the handling of some of the cars wouldn't go amiss as well. Maybe we might see the first few games on gog in the future if square enix want to try drumming up some more intrest in the franchise.

GTA games have you running over pedestrians all the time. I don't seeing it being much of an issue to be honest.

True, but at least GTA wasn't scoring you for it :D

If I remember correctly, one of the ways to beat a race in Carmageddon was to kill all the pedestrians, so it's more a goal than a byproduct. That might be an issue.

If they did it right then I think I'd actually prefer a zombie version. Or you know 28 days later style infected. That would add some context and purpose to it all.

But as long as the environments are cool and explorable and the destruction is impressive and there's an action replay feature then I doubt I'll be complaining.

That's basically Clutch. Carmageddon is better without an apocaliptical plot and WITH Human Peds.

The point of it has always been that there's no freaking point to it.

God help us so they don't decide to include missions this time around. I want to race and run over pedestrians. Just that and a bit of destruction derby.
No
Effing
Way
!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, hell has frozen over.
Pigs can fly.
Etc etc etc

My FAVORITE game of all time!
I hope its more like Carma 2, and a whole lot less like TDR.

How real is this?
The web page wont load for me.
:(

Oh man.
I am SO excited.

That worked for the first game and the Splatt Pack. I found it to be wearing a bit thin with the second game though. Now I like the thought of a last man standing mode without the ability to repair and with aggressive peds willing to do anything to take you down and snack on you.
Nothing beats hitting someone at 300mph and watching chunks fly across the screen.

Always a great series I'm sure everyone will enjoy it.

Though the Aussie version will probably have dodgems instead of cars and humans are replaced with teddy bears

Clutch sucked butt.
I hate when people say Clutch was the next Carmageddon (not dissing on you). :(

Carma was so good, because it was open world, and you could actually go anywhere in it:
Up cliffs
On top of roofs
Inside buildings
ETC etc etc

NO game since then has even come close to doing that.
They are all confined to the road, or re-place you on the road if you venture too far off of it.

The power-ups were great, in that they gave you the ability to go anywhere. They were actually useful, and sometimes neccesary, to finishing the map.

I would rather they NOT make the game, than turn it into a Clutch, or Blur, or Split Second type of game.

Dave3d: ...
Well said, Volumetric Dave! Carmageddon was basically the driving genre's 'do whatever the fuck you want' game. That's what I loved about it. The colour of the blood only mattered because censorship really pisses me off.
Considering it was essentially "Death Race 2000" but without the license, the killing pedestrians bit is kind of the point.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072856/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Race_2000#Plot

"The coast-to-coast, 3 day race is run on public roads, and points are scored not just for speed, but for the number of innocent pedestrians struck and killed."

Maybe not, but it didn't stop me keeping score with an abacus :D.
