Wasn't this game 3DFX accelerated, meaning it would not work with D3D? I remember there being some reason why I retired this one to my sad category of "no longer playable on my hardware".
Still, this is, as I remember, a FANTASTIC game. Other than your ship looking like a fish that swallowed a dinner plate, I loved every minute of it! The really don't make them like this anymore.

you can always use a glide emulator if it supports 3dfx :)
I think it had a software renderer mode, just like the first MDK

GOG.com: Also known as I-War in Europe[...]

Knowing that GOG.com is a Europe-based company, why didn't you wirte "I-War, also know as Independance War." ?
Not gonna buy it since I hate Sims, but glad that we have a new GpG on board 8)

Already did - months ago. :)
I think there's only one reasoned response to this news:
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUY BUY BUY BUY VY VU VUHNDFLGNLSGN!!!
I might just have to break out the old paypal
I just cheered at my screen, loudly.
I've been searching for a copy of this bugger for YEARS.
Thank-you GOG.

I'm not sure that helps... They are already in the top ten on the list. So I would assume that when they haven't been added yet it is because they are either going to be to expensive or the owner don't want to sell them sans DRM or both.
WWWWwhhhhhhhhaaaaaaa !!!!!!
Instabuy. This is my second favorite game of all times (the first one being Freespace 2 : GOG, you're too awesome to be true).
Finally, I'll get a chance to replay this amazing game, and to play the Defiance campaign for the first time. And many thanks for the 6$ price point !
To all newcomers that want to try this game : make sure you browse the manual before playing the game. And read it entirely while you dive into the game. We're talking real simulation stuff here, so the learning curve is quite steep. But the game is really rewarding when you get used to it.
:edit:
For those wondering about the controls, I first played the game in 99 without joystick, and still managed to finish the campaign. This game is decently playable with a keyboard, thanks to the auto-aiming feature. I recommand using a keyboard with a numpad though, since roll/pich/yaw controls are mapped to the numerical pad. I don't remember anything about mouse controls. But definitely, this game is much more enjoyable with a joystick.
And here is the original trailer that I uploaded on youtube some time ago :

I wanna turn left! Now right! ...Curse you NEWTON! *floats away into the depths of space*
Once you get the hang of using the ship thrusters this is a very different and very good space/shooty/thingy type game.
And does this release mean we can expect Edge Of Chaos soon on GOG?
Just one teeny little thing, GOG staff...
Battleships are dreadnOughts, not dreadnAughts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreadnought
(Yes, I saw the programmers spelled it that way in the game, but please don't propagate the error on your game page. :) )
woot! my brother always loved this, I was a little too young to play if effectively then, but definitely getting it now!
Fantastic release an instant buy here. One clasic pc game that makes you work and not guiide your hand like some newer games.

I guess so ! And I have a proof !
On the GOG page for I-War, if you look closely at the upper artwork banner (underneath the game title) you can see that it's from I-War 2 : Edge of Chaos. It's Cal when he's a kid in the game introduction movie. I doubt GOG could legally use such an artwork if they did not own the rights to the second game ;-)
So yes, I think we can hope for a release of EoC soon !
